Saturday Racing Tips - Riccarton Park 03/05/25

The only racing this Saturday in New Zealand comes from Riccarton Park where heavy rain could have a real impact on proceedings.

Ahead of the action starting we have already run our eye through the card and picked out some of our best horse racing tips. BEST BET – Four The Moment 
The Berkley Stud Champagne Stakes is the feature race of the Riccarton Park card this Saturday and it looks set to be a cracker. Exclusive to two year olds we are taking a chance with Four The Moment. A winner of his second start, he brings great form into the race and the wet conditions shouldn’t cause any issues. At a decent price he could be one of the best bets of the day.

THE DANGER – Lucy In The Sky
Despite the chances of Four The Moment, the undoubted danger is Lucy In The Sky. Set to jump off as the heavy favourite, she was a convincing winner on her debut only to finish sixth when last seen. She missed the start that day and still finished relatively close to the leaders. If she can get away better, she has every chance based on that promising debut run.

VALUE BET – Allotago
Allotago is yet to win but has shown promise with two consecutive third place efforts. Connections will hope he is wiser this time around and could get off the mark at the third time of asking.

BEST BET – Ifididit
Ifididit is likely to start the Avon City Ford Easter Cup as one of the leading contenders. A good winner when last seen at Riverton just over a week ago, it was a strong showing and there are thoughts that a step up to this distance from his previous victory at 1400m, should unlock even more.

THE DANGER – Riviera Rebel
One of the most interesting horses in the contest is Riviera Rebel. A winner of six of his 23 starts, he is a versatile runner who is taking a big step down in distance for this assignment. With his last win coming at 2000m, he will have bags of stamina and conditions should suit. Whether he has the speed to compete with those at the head of the market remains to be seen.

VALUE BET – Master Marko
In a race of this nature sometimes it pays to back experience, and nobody is more experienced in this line up than Master Marko. Although he isn’t a prolific winner, he only finished behind Ifididit when last seen and could well turn the tables here. He could be worth a small play.

BEST BET – Penvose Lad 
Penvose Lad looks to be one of the best bets of the day. Set to jump as the favourite in the Bush Inn Sprint. He takes on a whole host of experienced horses but is the only horse in the field to taste success when last seen and he brings in a good level of form. This is a tough assignment, but he looks to be the class angle of the race.

THE DANGER – Bouyant
The most seasoned campaigner in the field when it comes to the total prize money won is Bouyant. A winner of seven of his thirty five starts, he is without a win in any of his last six starts so has plenty to prove. However, he knows where the finish line is and will likely give his running and could give Penvose Lad plenty to think about.

VALUE BET – Makabar
Makabar was a winner two starts ago but couldn’t back up that winning effort and could only finish fifth on his last start. The most seasoned campaigner with 90 career starts, he knows his job and always gives a good account of himself. He could be worth considering at a decent price.
