One of the main dangers to Miss Starlight will be Jetstream. She finally broke her maiden at the 17th attempt last time out and whilst there is no guarantee that she will follow up, she arrives thriving and could be worth a second look.

VALUE BET – Second Chance

If you are seeking some added value, Second Chance could be the play. A winner of two of her six starts, she looks to be a progressive horse and looks to be of tremendous value.

BEST BET – Analyst

Analyst is one of our favourite bets of the day. Having not showed much for almost two years, he returned to form nicely with a victory at the track just over a week ago. In a race where many arrive out of form, that form looks good and he should be on the premises once more.

THE DANGER – Sway Up

There are several dangers at the top of the market, but one of the main threats to Analyst looks to be from Sway Up. He has been knocking on the door lately with two runner up efforts in each of his last two starts. If everything clicks into place, this could finally be the race where he pokes his head in front.

VALUE BET – Pirates N Gold

Without doubt, the value of the race looks to be with Pirates N Gold. A winner two starts ago at the course, he beat Sway Up that day and looked a dangerous horse at this level. He was poor last time out, unable to back it up and finishing well down the field, there will be hopes that he can bounce back to form with a good run here.

BEST BET – Identikit

In a race where several look to have a real shot at glory, Identikit could take some pulling back. A winner of her last two starts, those victories have come away from Riccarton but have been impressive none the less. With three wins from eleven starts, this will be her first start at the track and it will be interesting to see how she handles conditions.

THE DANGER – Ocean Light

Ocean Light could well jump off as the heavy favourite and with three wins in his last five starts it is easy to see why. A lover of Riccarton he has two wins and a third-place finish in each of his last three starts at the course and another win could be on the cards here. A danger to all, he is worth consideration at a fairly decent price.

VALUE BET – Peecee Pussycat

Peecee Pussycat is our long shot of the day. Whilst he faces plenty of top opposition here, he is massively experienced and was a narrow runner up at the track on his last start at Riccarton. Watch out for him late as he usually finishes his races with a flourish and is more than capable of pulling off the upset if running to his true potential.
