The best racing this Saturday in New Zealand comes from Riccarton Park where the headline contest is the Group 3 War Decree Stakes.

THE DANGER – Outback Girl

In a fairly limited field, the most obvious dnagers could be from the newcomers and the most likely according to the market is Outback Girl. Whilst her breeding isn’t spectacular, this race isn’t the strongest and she could be worth chancing.

VALUE BET – Urchella

If you want to back one with experience, it could be worth siding with Urchella. She was third on debut and whilst that form can be poked at, she may come on and could be one to back.

BEST BET – War of Silence

Mark Walker and Sam Bergerson look to be strong handed in the War Decree Stakes with both War of Silence and Origin of Love set to jump off as the favourites. Of the two it could be worth siding with War of Silence. With both of his runs coming at the track, he has a win and a second place effort and looks ready to compete at this level. He could take some stopping.

THE DANGER – Shoma

Outside of the Walker and Bergerson combination, Shoma looks like an interesting contender. Experienced in relation to most in the field, he has twice raced as Listed level and performed with credit. This will take a career best effort, but he can’t be ruled out.

VALUE BET – Here’s Loosie

Arguably one of the best value picks of the day is Here’s Loosie. Having stepped forward from her debut where she won well, this represents a huge hike in class but clearly her connections think highly of her and she could well spring a surprise.

BEST BET – Sir Albert

The Sothys Spring Classic is one of the best races of the day and despite the quality field, Sir Albert is set to jump as the market leader. Going at his preferred distance, he loves the Riccarton surface having won five of his seven races at the track. Whilst this is a deep contest, his chances just can’t be ignored.

THE DANGER – Cognito

Mark Walker and Sam Bergerson will be hoping for a special Saturday and the look to have a great chance in this with Cognito. Having competed and won at Group 2 level, this is a race that is certainly within his scope. He has two wins from his last three runs and has to be respected.

VALUE BET – Master Marko

Our long shot of the day is Master Marko. A vastly experienced campaigner, he was once considered good enough to compete in Group 1 races. Whilst his recent form isn’t anything to shout too loudly about, if it all clicks on the day, he could find himself in the mix.
