In what is an interesting card that contains both flat and jump races, ahead of the first race we have run our eye through the card and picked out some of our best horse racing tips. BEST BET – Taika

Taika is one of our best bets of the day. A lover of the conditions he goes well around Te Rapa And should give his running once again. A winner win last at the track conditions should be in his favour and he could be a tough nut to crack.

THE DANGER – Verry Flash

The obvious danger is Verry Flash. Likely to jump off as the favourite, he arrives at the track in good form, with a win and second place effort in each of his last two starts. He will have plenty of support and will give the rest of the field plenty to think about.

VALUE BET – Justice

If those at the top of the market don’t appeal then it could be worth siding with justice. Although not a prolific winner he has run well in each of his last two starts with  third and second place finishes. At a decent price, he could be worth a second look.

BEST BET – Twain

Only six runners will head to post for the third race of the card the Bayleys Country Sprint. Twain will start the race as the heavy favourite and it’s easy to see why. With three wins in his last four starts this race looks like his to lose. If he runs to form he should have far too much class for everybody else in this field.

THE DANGER – Shoes

If the price of the favourite has put you off then shoes could be a good alternative. Having posted four winning efforts, he has come close in each of his last two starts finishing second on both occasions. A classy operator in his own right he could give Twain plenty to think about.

VALUE BET – Mercurial

It’s hard to look beyond the top two in the market, however if there is a long shot you want to back then it could be worth siding with Mercurial. The most experienced runner in the field he has 36 starts and six wins. Although he arrives massively out of form, if he gets it right, he could be a surprise contender here.

Out of all of the races on Saturday’s Te Rapa card, the eighth race of the day might just be the hardest to call. With plenty in with a chance, we have sided with Ziggy Stardust here. With two seconds and a win in each of his last three starts, he arrives bang in form and could be worth a small play.

THE DANGER – Ridgeview Vicky

There are plenty in with a chance, but looking at the form Ridgeview Vicky looks to rate As a real danger. With a win and second place effort in each of her last two starts, she could go well again. She should handle conditions and should give the rest of the field plenty to worry about.

VALUE BET – El Jaycee

El Jaycee is our long shot of the day and he is another who arrives in decent form. With a win and two second place finishes in his last four starts, he is thriving at the moment and could find conditions exactly to his liking. He could be a real contender at a double figure price.
