The best racing this Saturday in New Zealand comes from Trentham where the headline contest is the Group 1 Tab Mufhasa Classic.

With two consecutive Group 1 victories in both the Howden Insurance Mile and Livamol Classic, Waitak is looking to make it three in a row with a victory in the Mufhasa Classic. The outright favourite for victory here, he has the best recent form and could be a very tough nut to crack here. The one to beat here.

THE DANGER – La Crique

La Crique is a proven performer at this level having won two Group 1 races, she has also placed second on eight different occasions. Of late, Waitak has had the better of the exchanges, but the winning distances have been narrow, she could turn it round here.

VALUE BET – Agera

Whilst those at the top of the market look solid, the best value of the race has to be with Agera. A winner of three of his last four, this is his toughest assignment to date. Whilst he has class to prove, he deserves to take his place here.

Mystic Park looks to be the pick of the bunch in the Taylor Property Plus Spring Sprint. A winner last time out in Group 3 company, he has the class to land a second successive graded contest and is bound to be popular in the markets.

THE DANGER – Kitty Flash

Kitty Flash will vie for favouritism and she is looking to land a first graded effort of her career. Having placed twice in higher grade contests than this, she certainly can win this race and with a win and a second place finish in her last two starts, she also has the recent form to back it up.

VALUE BET – Spencer

With two wins in his last three, Spencer looks the best of the rest. Thriving, he has tasted success in this grade and if you want some value in what looks to be a deep race he must be the choice.

Craig Grylls looks to have a great book of rides and he could get punters off to a great start in the opener. An emphatic winner on his debut, this is a tougher race but he could be a horse to watch with real interest.

THE DANGER – Laura’s Legacy

Another debut winner was Laura’s Legacy and just like The Dirty Dee she will be looking to land a second consecutive victory. Conditions should be perfect, and she can give another good showing.

VALUE BET – Justice For All

Justice For All is our long shot of the day and his chances shouldn’t be overlooked. He has raced at a higher level than this in the past and shed his maiden tag with a gutsy win last time out. He could build on that and with plenty of experience he could have a live chance.
