Saturday Racing Tips - Trentham 31/01/26

The Trentham card this Saturday is headlined by the Grade 2 Jennian Homes Lowland Stakes and the Life Direct Remutaka Classic.

Ahead of the first race we have run our eye through the card and picked out some of our best horse racing tips.

Origin of Love – 3.30

Crimson Sky – 4.60

BEST BET – Origin of Love

When it comes to prize money and form, despite the depth of the Jennian Homes Lowland Stakes, no other horse can match Origin of Love. Having done most of her recent racing exclusively at this level, she has placed in both the Eulogy and Hogan Stakes. Although not a gimmie by any stretch, she is the one to beat.

THE DANGER – Crimson Sky

There are many dangers, but Crimson Sky could be one to watch with intent. Although yet to win, her third last time out in the Grade 3 Desert Gold Stakes was her best run to date. This requires more, but still capable of improvement, she could be a good alternative to Origin of Love

VALUE BET – Clara Bow

Our value play is Clara Bow. She was just touched off when a warm favourite at Matamata last week and seemed to lack the speed when needed. She steps up in trip today and that could produce a career best showing.

Shaking Stevens – 17.00

BEST BET – Uncle Arch

In the Life Direcr Remutaka Classic a chance is taken on Uncle Arch. In superb form this season, he has won three of his last four races and arguably has the best recent form out of any horse in the field. This is a step up in class, but he is thriving and can’t be ignored at his current price.

THE DANGER – The Precursor

The Precursor will be the warm favourite for the race and is the most consistent horse in the field. Having won or placed in seven of his nine career starts, this is also his toughest task to date but his consistency simply can’t be ignored.

VALUE BET – Shaking Stevens

Every horse in the field will have a chance of victory but Shaking Stevens could be the best value of them all. A stalwart at this level, he is operating at a near 25% winning rate this season and with conditions set to be perfect, his chances can’t be ignored.

Rosso – 3.00

One Bold Cat – 10.00

Royal Flower – 35.00

BEST BET – Rosso

Despite others being rated higher, Rosso will start the Innovation and Sport Wellington Cup as the favourite. A winner of three of his last four - he comes into the race having won his best effort to date in the Totara Lodge Trentham Stakes. That was a Grade 3 and he will hope to follow that effort up here.

THE DANGER – One Bold Cat

When it comes to ratings, One Bold Cat rates as the most dangerous but he has form to overcome. Having finished behind Rosso in the Trentham Stakes he will need to settle better if he is to emerge victorious and reverse the table with his rival.

VALUE BET – Royal Flower

Royal Flower is our value shot of the day. Splitting Rosso and One Bold Cat in the Trentham Stakes was Royal Flower and it seems strange that she is priced so large. She massively outran her odds that day and will be hopeful of following that last performance up here.
