Having hit the cross bar on three of her four starts, this race looks like the ideal opportunity for Petite Rocher to get off the mark. She faces a host of new and ordinary horses here, and her experience should prove invaluable. This is a race she should be winning.

THE DANGER – Foo Foo

The main danger in the race is likely to come from a new starter and Foo Foo looks to be the pick of the bunch. Craig Grylls takes the ride, and she should be worth a market check.

VALUE BET – Miss Silhouette

Another first-time runner is Miss Silhouette and she is another who should hold a live chance. She is nicely bred and could play a part in proceedings here.

The final race of the day is arguably the toughest to call but Avantaggia looks to hold a great chance. Opie Bosson makes the trip to Avondale for three rides, and his best chance of a winner looks to be in this contest. A winner three starts ago, she missed out when favourite last time out at Matamata, but she is rested and should have her conditions, a big run will be expected.

THE DANGER – To The Max

To The Max is returning to the track after a 16-week layoff but is dropping down in class and must be rated as a big danger. He has just raced three times and there could be plenty more to come. He has fitness to prove, but if fully tuned up, he must be respected.

VALUE BET – Tonia’s Dragon

At a massive price, Tonia’s Dragon could run a big race. She was a long price winner when last seen ten weeks ago and the break should have freshened her up. This is tougher but at a massive price she can’t be ignored.

In the penultimate race of the day, Vesphire will be a popular selection. She has placed three times in a higher grade than this and her connections will be hoping that she can get back inside the winner’s circle here. Her last win came 18 months ago, but this looks like a golden opportunity to get back on track.

THE DANGER – Blesstas

Another class dropper is Blesstas and he could give Vesphire and the rest something to think about. She has moved trainers a fair bit this season and will be making her second start for Benjamin King, the pair will be hoping for an improvement on the sixth place she managed three weeks ago at Tauranga.

VALUE BET – Orange River

Whilst those at the top of the market have class at a higher level, one horse to potentially look at further down the field could be Orange River. She placed on her last start at Matamata and could come from off the speed, she has plenty to prove but could be worth a small play at a big price.
