THE DANGER – Incredible Patch

Incredible Patch could be the danger and is another with experience. He has made three starts and has placed in two of those, but his last run was poor. He could be the one to be on, but he will need to produce a better performance here.

VALUE BET – What Next

The value could lie with What Next. He has had one run and finished fifth. Whilst that form can’t match the market principles, he could be capable of improvement and could be the value play here.

In the fifth race of the day, Mighty Macca could be the play. He ran well on debut to finish second and is returning to the track after a ten-week layoff. That form is the best in the field, and if he is ready to race, he will set the standard.

THE DANGER – The Black Prince

The Black Prince could represent a nice alternative. A promising debut where he placed was then slightly spoiled when he finished down the field at Pukekura Raceway a few weeks ago. The run on his debut is enough to offer encouragement, but a return to that form is needed if he is to be competitive.

VALUE BET – Scotty

The value bet of the contest could be Scotty. A five-runner maiden, things seemed to click when he finished second last time out at Wanganui. It could be that he has finally got the hang of racing and that last run offers plenty encouragement.

In the third race of the day Portland could prove popular but she does come with a warning. A ten-race maiden, she has often bumped into one too good, as she has finished twice on five different occasions. Her time is close and the fact she is likely to jump as the favourite suggests that it could be now.

THE DANGER – Kind Of Blue

Connections of Kind Of Blue will be hoping that this is the opportunity for them to finally get off the mark. It is a similar story to Portland with Kind Of Blue still being a maiden after fourteen starts and having finished second on four occasions. She is vulnerable to an improver but her form stacks up well in this field.

VALUE BET – Irish Rose

Irish Rose is our value play of the day, and we think she has a great chance of landing a blow here. Where plenty of horses at the top of the market are exposed, Irish Rose has just had the one start where she finished second. This will require a career best performance, but this could be the race where it all finally clicks.
