Although a short price, Justincase is our best bet of the day. A hugely promising second on debut, he returns from ten weeks of the track and will hope to give his running here. This return represents a step down in class and connections will hope he is far too good for this field.

THE DANGER – Cool In Command

Opie Bosson usually saves his riding for Saturday’s so the fact he is here deserves a mention. Although Cool In Comman showed little on debut, he is another class dropper here. With some of the best connections on the scene, he can’t be ignored.

VALUE BET – Bramito

Whilst there are some potentially good horses in this field, Bramito is an interesting newcomer. Craig Grylls takes the ride and there is arguably nobody better with an unraced horse. He will have to be good to win here but he could be worth chancing.

Djibouti – 4.00

Uptown – 6.50

BEST BET – Savvy Donna

Having failed to win in five starts, connections of Savvy Donna have hit the panic button and she takes a massive step down in class to try and get off the board. Having finished fourth in the Grade 2 Windsor Park Stud Soliloquy Stakes, that is the best form in the race by a mile. She should be a class apart here.

THE DANGER – Djibouti

Djibouti will rank as the main danger. Having only made one start in her fledging career, her second at Arawa Park a few weeks ago was full of promise. She takes a step down here and could be capable of huge improvement. Her chances have to be respected.

VALUE BET – Uptown

Uptown is another who is likely to come on from her debut. Finishing fourth, the penny seemed to drop late. She represents high class connections and could be capable of much better.

Whathemansaw – 10.00

BEST BET – Cease and Desist

With just three wins under his belt, Cease and Desist seems to be improving with each and every run. Although yet to get off the mark, his second last time out offers real encouragement in a race that seems to lack depth. Opie Bosson takes the ride and he looks to hold a major chance.

THE DANGER – Clara Bow

Clara Bow is another who is gaining in experience. Whilst she couldn’t back up her debut third, when finishing fourth on her last start, that race could have turned out differently and she shouldn’t be written off yet. Craig Grylls has a great strike rate for these connections and she is impossible to ignore.

VALUE BET –Whatthemansaw

Our long shot of the day is Whatthemansaw and although he could be vulnerable to an unexposed type he arrives at Matamata in good health. After failing to fire in his first two starts, he left that form well behind when outrunning his odds to finish second last time out at Tauranga. He could be lurking at a decent price for value seekers.
