Mr Jay Eight is likely to jump as the favourite for this contest and has to rate as the most obvious danger. Whilst one win in 17 starts doesn’t exactly scream danger, he has operated at a high level in the past and could find these calmer waters to his liking.

VALUE BET – Psyclone

With two wins from 22 starts, Psyclone might not be an obvious threat but he could represent the value here. Coming off a string of poor performances, his second last time out at Wanganui was much more like it and he can take another step forward here in a lower quality race.

Our next best bet comes in the shape of Afternoon Siesta. Having finished second on her debut she then went one place better when landing the odds at Wanganui. Clearly highly progressive, this is her first run for 30 weeks so there is a question mark over her fitness, however if she is ready to race she is the one to beat.

THE DANGER – New York Belle

New York Belle can boast a very similar profile to Afternoon Siesta and she could be capable of anything. Having broken her maiden during her last start, she is race fit and could be a real danger.

VALUE BET – Hickory Jack

For those who like to play at longer odds, Hickory Jack could be worth another look. Whilst his recent form isn’t nothing to write home about, he might have turned the corner with a promising third on his last start. A winner of two of his sixteen starts, he isn’t without hope.
