VALUE BET – Princess Reign

In what looks to be a contest between the top two in the market, Princess Reign could be the value play. After finishing second on debut, she ran poorly last time out and will be hoping to get back on track here. Her debut run was encouraging and she could outrun her odds here.

Blue Goddess will be popular in the fourth race of the day. Having had eleven goes, her connections will hope that it is a case of twelfth time lucky as she seeks to finally break her maiden. Her runs haven’t been without hope, she has two consecutive second place efforts and takes a drop down in class. She will be popular.

THE DANGER – Aviva

It is a similar story for the connections of Aviva. She has had 19 goes at trying to shed her maiden tag and is another class dropper. She has placed second on six occasions so she is used to running at the head of affairs, this could finally be where it all comes together.

VALUE BET – Private Treaty

Another class dropper comes in the shape of Private Treaty. She has raced eleven times but is seeking a first win here. She placed second two starts ago and there is a feeling that a drop down in trip could unlock further improvement. This will be a tough assignment but she could be worth a market check.

Peecee Pussycat could start the final race as the favourite and punters will hope that he will send them home happy. Having made 182 starts, his 10% winning strike rate is a concern, but having competed at the highest level, this is a race that he can land.

THE DANGER – Dioressence

Dioressence heads into this wide open race in good form. Following his second place finish last time out at a metro level, hopes will be high that he can back that performance with another big showing.

VALUE BET – Cosmetic Virtue

Cosmetic Virtue is our long shot of the day, and he looks to be a great price. A good winner last time out at Ashburton three weeks ago, hopes will be high of another solid performance and he could well have the form to pull off another upset.
