Wednesday Racing Tips - Waverley 28/01/26

In a race which doesn’t look too deep, Zivou will start as the warm favourite in the sixth race of the day. Having just raced three times, he broke his maiden tag last time out and will be hoping for much of the same here. Expected to be up with the pace, he could dictate the fractions and be the one the rest of the field have to catch.

THE DANGER – Massive Prince

Massive Prince could rate as the main danger. In comparison to Zivou he is vastly experienced and one of the highest rated horses in the field. Although he often finds one too good, he has placed in three of his last four starts and could pick up the pieces if Zivou fails to fire.

VALUE BET – Knowledge Is Power

The value lies with Knowledge Is Power. Representing strong connections, he is another who has decent place form in recent races with two placed efforts from his last three starts. He should find himself on the premises and is capable of competing here.

BEST BET – Wigmore

On the card’s second race, Wigmore could be one of the bankers of the day. Having improved with each run, he got off the mark at the third time of asking with a taking performance. Here he takes a step up in distance and there is a hope that even more could be unlocked.

THE DANGER – She’s Wondering

She’s Wondering could be the main danger. A winner at the start of January, she moved up to metro class and found life in that company far too tricky. She takes a step back down in grade today and that move to calmer waters could see her return to a decent level.

VALUE BET – Yellow Jersey

Yellow Jersey is our value play and he can be backed at a huge price. Although not a prolific winner by any means, he has only run once at this distance and did finish third. There will be a hope that running at this trip could see a return to positive form.

BEST BET – Archaic Smile

Archaic Smile has gone six starts without a victory and will be hoping to return to winning ways here. Her last two starts have come in Graded company and whilst she has tasted success, she did record a fourth place finish and that is amongst some of the best form of the contest. She is worth consideration.

THE DANGER – Sixth Generation

Sixth Generation has almost won a million dollars in prize money and is highly experienced. A veteran of these type of races, he is taking a small step down in grade and these calmer waters could see plenty of progress.

VALUE BET – Wire Rope

Our long shot of the day is Wire Rope. Having won both of his last two starts, he is the only horse in the race to bring in winning form. Whist this is tougher, he is a horse flying in confidence and he could well outrun his odds here.
