Cronulla Sharks vs Manly Sea Eagles
In the first game of Round 13, we’ll see if the Origin stars choose to back up on the quick two-day turnaround. Addin Fonua-Blake and Briton Nikora could be backing up for the Sharks, and Tolu Koula and Haumole Olakau'atu for the Sea Eagles. The Sharks have been a little inconsistent this season and are sitting just outside the top eight. Meanwhile, the Sea Eagles are in the top four after bouncing back from a poor start to the season.
The Sharks have won two of their last three games, with wins over the Bulldogs and Tigers. For the Sea Eagles, they have won four of their last five games, with their only loss in that time coming against the Panthers, 16-18. With the Sharks currently being the favourites, I think there could be an upset on the cards. I’ll play it safe, though, taking the Sea Eagles to cover the spread.
| Bookmaker | Katherine’s Tip | Odds |
| Sea Eagles +6.5 | NZ$1.61 | |
| First 10 Minutes Handicap - Sea Eagles +0.5 | NZ$1.41 | |
| Sea Eagles +6.5 | NZ$1.61 |
Predicted Squads
Cronulla Sharks - Will Kennedy, Sam Stonestreet, Jesse Ramien, KL Iro, Ronaldo Mulitalo, Braydon Trindall, Nicho Hynes, Addin Fonua-Blake, Blayke Brailey, Toby Rudolf, Briton Nikora, Teig Wilton, Jesse Colquhoun, Siosifa Talakai, Billy Burns, Thomas Hazelton, Hohepa Puru, Mawene Hiroti & Jayden Berrell
Manly Sea Eagles - Clayton Faulalo, Jason Saab, Tolu Koula, Reuben Garrick, Lehi Hopoate, Luke Brooks, Jamal Fogarty, Taniela Paseka, Brandon Wakeham, Ethan Bullemor, Haumole Olakau'atu, Kobe Hetherington, Jake Trbojevic, Jake Simpkin, Nathan Brown, Jackson Shereb, Blake Wilson, Simione Laiafi & Joey Walsh
Newcastle Knights vs Parramatta Eels
Kicking things off on Saturday, we see the Knights welcome the Eels to McDonald Jones Stadium. With some of their key players coming back into the fold in recent weeks, we’ve seen the Knights excel, and they have now won their last three games in a row. The Eels have been a bit rocky pretty much all season, and they’ve won two of their last five games. Most recently, they went down, 8-34, to the Storm.
We should expect to see Origin stars for each team return. However, the Eels will be without their captain, Mitchell Moses, for a while after he suffered a hamstring injury at the Blues training camp. The Knights and Eels played twice last season, with the Eels getting a comfortable win on both occasions. These are two different teams now, though, and with Mitchell Moses out, the Knights should get the win at home.
| Bookmaker | Katherine’s Tip | Odds |
| Knights -10.5 | NZ$1.57 | |
| First 10 Minutes Handicap - Knights -0.5 | NZ$1.96 | |
| Knights -10.5 | NZ$1.57 |
Predicted Squads
Newcastle Knights - Kalyn Ponga, Dominic Young, Dane Gagai, Fletcher Hunt, Greg Marzhew, Fletcher Sharpe, Dylan Brown, Jacob Saifiti, Phoenix Crossland, Trey Mooney, Dylan Lucas, Jermaine McEwen, Mat Croker, Sandon Smith, Tyson Frizell, Pasami Saulo, Cody Hopwood, Harrison Graham & Francis Manuleleua
Parramatta Eels - Isaiah Iongi, Joash Papali'i, Jordan Samrani, Sean Russell, Josh Addo-Carr, Ronald Volkman, Jonah Pezet, Luca Moretti, Tallyn Da Silva, Junior Paulo, Kelma Tuilagi, Jack Williams, Jack De Bellin, Dylan Walker, Sam Tuivaiti, Toni Mataele, Charlie Guymer, Apa Twidle & Brian Kelly
Wests Tigers vs Canterbury Bulldogs
The Tigers are up against the Bulldogs for this clash, and they actually come into this game as the favourites despite losing their last three games in a row. It’s not just the losses, it’s the way the Tigers have been losing that’s been the most concerning. Meanwhile, the Bulldogs finally put an end to their losing streak last time out, beating the Storm 30-20. These two teams only played each other once last season, and it was the Tigers that got the better of the Bulldogs, 28-14.
The injury woes continue for the Tigers. However, Api Koroisau has said Jahream Bula might be back this round (which would be two weeks ahead of schedule). If he is back, he’ll replace Heath Mason. Taylan May is still out and may be out for the rest of the season. Adam Doueihi is still a few weeks away as well. For the Bulldogs, captain Stephen Crichton should be backing up from Origin. Jacob Preston is out after breaking his arm.
Predicted Squads
Wests Tigers - Heath Mason, Jeral Skelton, Sunia Turuva, Heamasi Makasini, Luke Laulilii, Jarome Luai, Jock Madden, Terrell May, Api Koroisau, Fonua Pole, Alex Seyfarth, Kai Pearce-Paul, Sione Fainu, Latu Fainu, Mavrik Geyer, Royce Hunt, Ethan Roberts, Jeral Skelton & Bunty Afoa
Canterbury Bulldogs - Jacob Kiraz, Jethro Rinakama, Bronson Xerri, Stephen Crichton, Marcelo Montoya, Matt Burton, Lachlan Galvin, Max King, Kurt Mann, Leo Thompson, Sitili Tupouniua, Harry Hayes, Jaeman Salmon, Bailey Hayward, Sam Hughes, Jack Underhill, Alekolasimi Jones, Josh Curran & Enari Tuala
Key NRL Betting Influencers - Round 13
A lot is happening this round, but here are the key factors that will most likely impact your bets:
- The Sharks are playing at home, but it’s hard to knock the form of the Sea Eagles, who have won their last three games in a row. I’ll take the Sea Eagles to cover the spread.
- The Knights are flying now that their key players have returned from injury. They are playing the Eels in Newcastle, and the Eels will be without Mitchell Moses as well.
- The Raiders haven’t exactly been consistent this season, but playing at home, it’s hard to go past them. The Cowboys may be building nicely, but they also aren’t too reliable in my eyes.

Melbourne Storm vs Sydney Roosters
The comeback trail stalled in its tracks for the Storm last time out, as they blew a half-time lead to go down to the Bulldogs at Accor Stadium. They come up against the Roosters, who were handed their first loss in a while, courtesy of the Cowboys, 12-18. Both the Storm and Roosters have several Origin stars that should be backing up for this clash, as long as they get through the Wednesday game unscathed.
Away from the Origin stars, Shawn Blore won’t be playing in this game for the Storm after failing his HIA against the Bulldogs. Xavier Coates is nearing a return, but we still probably won’t see him for a couple of weeks. For the Roosters, Daniel Tupou suffered a calf injury in Round 11 and is in some doubt. Cody Ramsey is likely to return from concussion protocols, though.
Predicted Squads
Melbourne Storm - Sua Fa’alogo, Will Warbrick, Jack Howarth, Nick Meaney, Moses Leo, Cameron Munster, Jahrome Hughes, Stefano Utoikamanu, Harry Grant, Josh King, Cooper Clark, Ativalu Lisati, Trent Loiero, Trent Toelau, Alec MacDonald, Davvy Moale, Stanley Huen, Joe Chan & Manaia Waitere
Sydney Roosters - James Tedesco, Daniel Tupou, Hugo Savala, Robert Toia, Cody Ramsey, Daly Cherry-Evans, Sam Walker, Naufahu Whyte, Reece Robson, Lindsay Collins, Angus Crichton, Siua Wong, Victor Radley, Egan Butcher, Spencer Leniu, Nat Butcher, Salesi Foketi, Connor Watson & Fetalaiga Pauga
Brisbane Broncos vs St. George Illawarra Dragons
Sunday NRL action begins with the Broncos playing host to the Dragons. Both teams are sitting in the bottom half of the ladder, but it’s the Broncos with a realistic chance of getting into the top eight in the next few weeks. The Broncos have lost their last three games in a row, to the Warriors, Sea Eagles, and Roosters. Meanwhile, we all know just how bad things are going for the Dragons, with 15 consecutive losses spanning back to last season.
Expect heaps of changes, especially for the Broncos. Along with their Origin players, they welcome back Kotoni Staggs from his two-match ban. Payne Haas is a chance to return, as is Jack Gosiewski, Blake Mozer, and Benjamin Te Kura. Jordan Riki is out, though, after undergoing foot surgery. For the Dragons, Jaydn Su'A is set for a stint on the sidelines thanks to a calf injury. Hayden Buchanan is also out after dislocating his shoulder.
Predicted Squads
Brisbane Broncos - Reece Walsh, Josiah Karapani, Kotoni Staggs, Gehamat Shibasaki, Jesse Arthars, Ezra Mam, Adam Reynolds, Payne Haas, Cory Paix, Preston Riki, Xavier Willison, Jack Gosiewski, Pat Carrigan, Ben Hunt, Ben Talty, Jaiyden Hunt, Aublix Tawha, Hayze Perham & Tom Duffy
St. George Illawarra Dragons - Clint Gutherson, Setu Tu, Moses Suli, Valentine Holmes, Christian Tipulotu, Daniel Atkinson, Kyle Flanagan, Loko Jnr Pasifiki Tonga, Damien Cook, Toby Couchman, Dylan Egan, Hamish Stewart, Ryan Couchman, Luciano Leilua, Emre Guler, Josh Kerr, Blake Lawrie, Tyrell Sloan & Lyhkan King-Togia
Canberra Raiders vs North Queensland Cowboys
The 2025 Minor Premiers are currently sitting in 12th spot on the ladder as they welcome the Cowboys, who are slowly starting to put things together, and are currently in sixth. The Raiders have been quite inconsistent this season, and come into this game with back-to-back losses (to the Dolphins and Panthers). The Cowboys, meanwhile, have won four of their last five games, with their only loss coming to the Eels, 30-33.
Hudson Young and Ethan Strange should return from Origin duties for the Raiders, and Reuben Cotter for the Cowboys. In the last two games between these clubs, it’s the Cowboys who have the hold over the Raiders. While the Cowboys have been winning lately, I still think they aren’t as reliable as others make them out to be. They travel to Canberra, and at this time of the year, that’s a big difference in temperature!
Predicted Squads
Canberra Raiders - Kaeo Weekes, Savelio Tamale, Sebastian Kris, Matthew Timoko, Xavier Savage, Ethan Strange, Ethan Sanders, Corey Horsburgh, Owen Pattie, Joe Tapine, Hudson Young, Zac Hosking, Jayden Brailey, Tom Starling, Ata Mariota, Morgan Smithies, Daine Laurie, Chevy Stewart & Jake Clydsdale
North Queensland Cowboys - Scott Drinkwater, Murray Taulagi, Jaxon Purdue, Tom Chester, Zac Laybutt, Liam Sutton, Jake Clifford, Thomas Mikaele, Reed Mahoney, Jason Taumalolo, Heilum Luki, Sam McIntyre, Reuben Cotter, Viliami Vailea, Griffin Neame, Matthew Lodge, Coen Hess, Xavier Kerrisk & Ethan King
Penrith Panthers vs New Zealand Warriors
Are we saving the best for last, when we see a top-of-the-table clash between the Panthers and the Warriors? Both teams will have plenty of players looking to back up from Origin, and being the last game of the round, we could see those stars (barring injury, of course). Although we’ve seen Ivan Cleary rest a lot of his Origin players in past seasons, so he could do the same again this season, considering they are on top of the ladder.
Both teams have seen win after win so far this season, with the Panthers only dropping one game and the Warriors dropping two. We could see Kurt Capewell and Mitch Barnett back up from Origin duties for the Warriors. Roger Tuivasa-Sheck is under an injury cloud and may have ruptured his ACL, which would put his career on the line. Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad is also a chance to return from his neck injury.
Predicted Squads
Penrith Panthers - Dylan Edwards, Thomas Jenkins, Paul Alamoti, Casey McLean, Brian To'o, Blaize Talagi, Nathan Cleary, Moses Leota, Freddy Lussick, Lindsay Smith, Isaiah Papali'i, Luke Garner, Isaah Yeo, Jack Cogger, Scott Sorensen, Liam Henry, Izack Tago, Billy Phillips & Billy Scott
New Zealand Warriors - Taine Tuaupiki, Dallin Watene-Zelezniak, Ali Leiataua, Adam Pompey, Alofiana Khan-Pereira, Chanel Harris-Tavita, Te Maire Martin, James Fisher-Harris, Wayde Egan, Jackson Ford, Leka Halasima, Kurt Capewell, Erin Clark, Sam Healey, Mitch Barnett, Demitric Vaimauga, Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad, Luke Hanson & Jacob Laban
