We’re in the final stretch of the 2026 NRL season, and some teams simply cannot afford to lose if they want even a sniff at making the finals. There are a couple of key matches this round, including an all-Queensland affair between the Cowboys and Broncos to wrap up Saturday night action.

The Bulldogs are at home for this clash against the Warriors. While the home side may be down in 10th spot on the ladder, they are coming home with a wet sail. They have won four of their last five, including holding the Tigers to nil last time out. They do get Stephen Crichton back as well for this one.

The second-placed Warriors will certainly be a challenge for the Bulldogs, but if they come in with that same sort of fire they did last time out, they are a team that’s good enough to keep this one close. If the Bulldogs manage a win here, and other results fall their way, they could be sitting in the top-eight come the end of this round.

The crowds always get up for an all-Queensland affair, and on Saturday night we see the Cowboys welcome the Broncos to Queensland Country Bank Stadium. The Cowboys are sitting just inside the top-eight and have won just two of their last five games.

The Broncos needed a win over the Panthers last time out to keep their finals hopes alive, and a win they got! It was a close tussle, but they scraped home 14-12. Now, they need to continue winning if they want to play finals footy. A lot is on the line, but I think now that the Broncos have that first win, they’ll get on a roll.

July 26th, 18:05, 4 Pines Park 

These two sides come into this one on completely different trajectories. The Sea Eagles have won just one of their last five, while the Sharks have won four of their last five. All those recent losses have resulted in the Sea Eagles slipping outside the top eight for the first time in a while.

Meanwhile, the Sharks are sitting pretty with a top-four spot. Tom Trbojevic is out once again for the Sea Eagles, with yet another hamstring injury. For the Sharks, they are looking like getting back to almost full strength. Winning at 4 Pines Park is no easy feat, but the Sharks have been playing so well lately, I can’t go against them.
