GET READY FOR ROUND 13 - All You Need to Know Before Kick-off

NRL Round 13 Preview
News Highlights
- The Dragons now have the second-longest losing streak in the NRL (with 15 consecutive losses).
- Eels captain, Mitchell Moses, is set for a stint on the sidelines after injuring his hamstring.
- In a heartbreaking development, Jai Arrow has been forced into retirement due to an MND diagnosis.
The talk of the town is about all the Origin stars and whether they’ll back up for their club in Round 13. We have seven games this round, and it all kicks off on Friday night. In the final game of the round, we see a top-of-the-table clash between the Penrith Panthers and the New Zealand Warriors. The BettingTop10 team covers all the latest news right here!
Saving the Best for Last: First vs Second on Sunday Night
Make sure you stick around until the very last game of the round, because we see the Panthers play host to the Warriors. The Panthers remain at the top of the table (and NRL betting odds), with just one loss so far this season. Meanwhile, the Warriors aren’t that far behind them, with only two losses.
Coach Ivan Cleary typically rests his Origin stars, and considering they are sitting in top spot, he may be inclined to do so again. Meanwhile, expect to see the Warriors’ Origin players make an appearance in this game (provided they make it through unscathed).
Roger Tuivasa-Sheck’s NRL career is seemingly over, after scans confirmed a season-ending ACL injury. He is set to leave the Warriors at the end of this season to join Wakefield Trinity (in the Super League).
The Manly Sea Eagles continue to build on their good run of form, and have won four of their last five games. The sacking of their coach all those weeks ago seems to be paying major dividends, and the only game they’ve lost was to the Panthers (by just two points as well).
We can’t forget about the Newcastle Knights as well! Things got a little wobbly when they lost two of their biggest stars. But both Kalyn Ponga and Dylan Brown are back, and the Newcastle team is flying. They have won their last three games in a row and take on the Parramatta Eels in Round 13.
The Pack: Consistency for the Dolphins?
The Dolphins have just snuck into the top eight thanks to a four-game winning streak. Have they finally found their groove? They also have the bye this week, giving their Origin stars some time to rest and fully recover for their game next round against the Cowboys.
The South Sydney Rabbitohs have been plagued by injuries as of late, but are another team with a bye this round, so hopefully that gives more time for them to recover. They have lost three of their last five games and will be looking to get back to their winning ways.
All thoughts have to be with Jai Arrow, though, who has been forced into retirement due to an MND diagnosis. The support across the NRL for Jai Arrow has been immense, and we even saw the Townsville crowd raise thousands of dollars for the Fight MND charity in the North Queensland Cowboys clash against the Rabbitohs.
Wooden Spoon Watch: The Dragons & the Unwanted Record
Yet another loss to the St. George Illawarra Dragons last time out means they have lost 15 games in a row (dating back to Round 24 last season). The all-time record is currently held by the Knights, with 19 consecutive losses between 2016 and 2017.
A lot of eyes will be on this record as we wait to see when the Dragons will finally chalk up their first win of the season (if it ever happens!). The Dragons have a date with the Brisbane Broncos in Round 13, at Suncorp Stadium, which won’t be an easy task, even if the Broncos are sitting in 11th spot.
The Eels have suffered a massive setback and could be truly cemented near the bottom of the ladder. While in the NSW Blues training camp, captain Mitchell Moses injured his hamstring and is set to miss multiple weeks.
With a record of 4-7, it’s difficult to see how the Eels can improve on that without some of their key players. Along with Mitchell Moses, both Sam Tuivaiti and Junior Paulo also remain out.
