Parramatta Eels vs South Sydney Rabbitohs
The Eels and Rabbitohs kick things off in Round 17, and both teams have a bye in the last round, so they’ll be looking to get back into the swing of things quickly. After beating the Raiders last time out, the Eels will be looking for back-to-back wins for just the second time this season. The Rabbitohs also got a win last time out, 48-6 over the Broncos, which put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Expect all the Origin stars to return for this one. For the Bunnies, we all thought Latrell Mitchell was getting ready to finally return to the field after a long injury. However, in a cruel twist of fate, the star injured his calf at training and is set for another stint on the sidelines. He’ll rejoin both Jack Wighton and Campbell Graham on the sidelines. I have to give the slight edge to the Rabbitohs, but the Eels may be good enough to keep it close.
Predicted Squads
Parramatta Eels - Isaiah Iongi, Joash Papali'i, Jordan Samrani, Sean Russell, Josh Addo-Carr, Ronald Volkman, Mitchell Moses, Luca Moretti, Tallyn Da Silva, Jack Williams, Kelma Tuilagi, Kitione Kautoga, Jack De Bellin, Dylan Walker, Sam Tuivaiti, Teancum Brown, Harrison Edwards, Apa Twidle & Charlie Guymer
South Sydney Rabbitohs - Jye Gray, Alex Johnston, Latrell Siegwalt, Tallis Duncan, Edward Kosi, Cody Walker, Ashton Ward, Tevita Tatola, Brandon Smith, Keaon Koloamatangi, David Fifita, Euan Aitken, Cameron Murray, Bronson Garlick, Jamie Humphreys, Lachlan Hubner, Moala Graham-Taufa, Dayne Jennings & Liam Le Blanc
Gold Coast Titans vs Canterbury Bulldogs
We don’t usually see the Titans on even odds with their opponents, but for this one, they are. If they were playing on the road, I think the Bulldogs would have been the favourite, but this one is up on the Gold Coast. Let’s not discount what the Titans were able to do last time out, though, taking down the Panthers,19-18, and serving them just their second loss of the season.
The Bulldogs have also been involved in close matches across their last two wins. They beat the Eels 14-12 and then the Sea Eagles 13-12 last time out. Tino Fa'asuamaleaui returns for the Titans, while both Cooper Bai and Jensen Taumoepeau are out. For the Bulldogs, expect a similar playing 13 that we saw last week. These are two teams coming into this one in form (shaky form, but a win is a win). With big Tino back for the Titans, that could make all the difference.
Predicted Squads
Gold Coast Titans - Keano Kini, Jaylan De Groot, Jojo Fifita, AJ Brimson, Phillip Sami, Jayden Campbell, Zane Harrison, Moeaki Fotuaika, Oliver Pascoe, Tino Fa'asuamaleaui, Arama Hau, Beau Fermor, Chris Randall, Kurtis Morrin, Josh Patston, Luke Sommerton, Adam Christensen, Klese Haas & Lachlan Ilias
Canterbury Bulldogs - Connor Tracey, Jacob Kiraz, Enari Tuala, Matt Burton, Jethro Rinakama, Stephen Crichton, Lachlan Galvin, Max King, Kurt Mann, Leo Thompson, Jacob Preston, Jaeman Salmon, Harry Hayes, Bailey Hayward, Jed Reardon, Jack Underhill, Josh Curran, Bronson Xerri & Logan Spinks
Brisbane Broncos vs Sydney Roosters
This is a massive game for the Broncos, who currently sit in 13th spot on the ladder with just five wins to their name so far this season. They did have their bye last week, so hopefully, fresh legs can help them against the Roosters, who sit in the top four. The fall from grace for the 2025 Premiers has been well-documented, and they have now lost six games in a row. The last time they won was back in Round 9, against, would you believe it, the Roosters!
The Roosters haven’t exactly been that crash-hot either, but they have managed to win two of their last three games. The Broncos should welcome back all their Origin stars, but question marks are still around the likes of Ezra Mam and Adam Reynolds on whether they play (or start) in this game. James Tedesco’s nose was not in its correct place during the Roosters’ last game, but he should play in this one, while Angus Crichton is out long-term with a foot injury.
Predicted Squads
Brisbane Broncos - Reece Walsh, Josiah Karapani, Kotoni Staggs, Grant Anderson, Jesse Arthars, Tom Duffy, Adam Reynolds, Preston Riki, Cory Paix, Payne Haas, Brendan Piakura, Jordan Riki, Xavier Willison, Ben Hunt, Ben Talty, Aublix Tawha, Ezra Mam, Josh Rogers & Jack Gosiewski
Sydney Roosters - James Tedesco, Daniel Tupou, Hugo Savala, Robert Toia, Mark Nawaqanitawase, Sam Walker, Daly Cherry-Evans, Naufahu Whyte, Reece Robson, Lindsay Colling, Egan Butcher, Siua Wong, Victor Radley, Spencer Leniu, Connor Watson, Nat Butcher, Salesi Foketi, Billy Smith & Benaiah Ioelu
Key NRL Betting Influencers - Round 17
A lot is happening this round, but here are the key factors that will most likely impact your bets:
- The Titans are the favourites coming into this one against the Bulldogs. Both teams have had narrow recent wins, but the Titans just toppled the Panthers and have looked in better form for longer. Take the home team to win.
- I’m surprised to see the Warriors such underdogs for this clash. They are playing a hot team in the Dolphins and at Suncorp Stadium, but the Warriors are also a really good team! This is a coin flip in my eyes.
- Really surprised to see $2.30 being offered for the Storm to get the win. They may be on the road, but have won their last three in a row, while the Sea Eagles have lost two of their last three.

Dolphins vs New Zealand Warriors
This has to be the game of the round with the Warriors heading across the ditch to take on the Dolphins at Suncorp Stadium. I know that the Warriors are on the road, and they’re playing a team that’s riding a seven-game winning streak, but the odds seem a little bit lopsided to me. Also, you want to know which team gave the Dolphins their last loss this season? Yep, that’s right, the Warriors!
The Warriors got back to their winning ways last time out after two narrow two-point losses against the Sharks and Panthers. Expect the Dolphins to welcome back all their Origin stars, as is the case for the Warriors. Meanwhile, Wade Egan and Jackson Ford look set to miss this one after picking up injuries in their last game. Leka Halasima could return this week from his hamstring injury, so watch this space.
| Bookmaker | Katherine’s Tip | Odds |
| Warriors +6.5 | NZ$1.60 | |
| First Half Total Points - Over 24.5 | NZ$1.89 | |
| Warriors +6.5 | NZ$1.60 |
Predicted Squads
Dolphins - Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow, Jamayne Isaako, Jack Bostock, Herbie Farnworth, Selwyn Cobbo, Kodi Nikorima, Isaiya Katoa, Tom Flegler, Jeremy Marshall-King, Francis Molo, Connelly Lemuelu, Kulikefu Finefeuiaki, Morgan Knowles, Max Plath, Kurt Donoghoe, Felise Kaufusi, Tom Gilbert, Jake Averillo & Ray Stone
New Zealand Warriors - Taine Tuaupiki, Dallin Watene-Zelezniak, Ali Leiataua, Adam Pompey, Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad, Chanel Harris-Tavita, Te Maire Martin, Tanner Stowers-Smith, Wayde Egan, Mitch Barnett, Marata Niukore, Jacob Laban, Erin Clark, Sam Healey, Demitric Vaimauga, Kayliss Fatialofa, Leka Halasima, Eddie Ieremia-Toeava & Luke Metcalf
North Queensland Cowboys vs Penrith Panthers
The Cowboys face a tough assignment when they face off against the Panthers at Queensland Country Bank Stadium on Saturday night. The home side has lost its last three games in a row, and most by sizable margins as well. On the flip side, the Panthers were handed just their second loss of the season, courtesy of the Titans, 18-19. You couldn’t split the two sides the last time they played, with the score being tied at 30-30!
Tom Dearden has a chance to return from his ankle injury for the Cowboys, which would obviously be a massive boost. For the Panthers, you’d expect all their Origin stars to return after being rested last time out. Considering the Panthers have only lost two games so far this season, it’s really hard to see them going back-to-back in losses. They have all their Origin stars, and this should be a big statement win.
| Bookmaker | Katherine’s Tip | Odds |
| Panthers -10.5 | NZ$1.85 | |
| Panthers Total Points - Over 30.5 | NZ$1.93 | |
| Panthers -10.5 | NZ$1.85 |
Predicted Squads
North Queensland Cowboys - Scott Drinkwater, Braidon Burns, Jaxon Purdue, Tom Chester, Murray Tualagi, Tom Dearden, Jake Clifford, Griffin Neame, Reed Mahoney, Jason Taumalolo, Heilum Luki, Jeremiah Nanai, Rueben Cotter, Soni Luke, Tom Mikaele, Matthew Lodge, Coen Hess, Zac Laybutt & Sam McIntyre
Penrith Panthers - Dylan Edwards, Thomas Jenkins, Paul Alamoti, Izack Tago, Brian To'o, Blaize Talagi, Nathan Cleary, Moses Leota, Mitch Kenny, Lindsay Smith, Isaiah Papali'i, Liam Martin, Isaah Yeo, Freddy Lussick, Scott Sorensen, Luke Garner, Billy Phillips, Liam Henry & Jack Cogger
Manly Sea Eagles vs Melbourne Storm
The Sea Eagles welcome the Storm to 4 Pines Park in the final Saturday game. This is another game where I can’t really understand the odds. Yes, the Sea Eagles are playing at home, but the Storm are cooking with gas right now, and have won four of their last five, including their last three in a row. Yet, the Storm are the underdogs! The Storm have beaten good teams as well, like the Roosters. Meanwhile, the Sea Eagles have lost two of their last three.
Kobe Hetherington is in concussion protocols for the Sea Eagles, and we can expect Brandon Wakeham to miss a few weeks due to a calf injury. Things continue to get better for the Storm with the likes of Hugo Peel, Marion Seve, and Nick Meaney all getting close to returning to the field. They might not all return this game, but soon, very soon. Take the Storm to win, I say, but you can also play it safe and take them to cover the spread instead.
Predicted Squads
Manly Sea Eagles - Tom Trbojevic, Jason Saab, Tolu Koula, Reuben Garrick, Lehi Hopoate, Luke Brooks, Jamal Fogarty, Taniela Paseka, Jake Simpkin, Ethan Bullemore, Haumole Olakau'atu, Ben Trbojevic, Jake Trbojevic, Josh Feledy, Nathan Brown, Jackson Shereb, Simione Laiafi, Joey Walsh & Paul Bryan
Melbourne Storm - Sua Fa’alogo, Will Warbrick, Moses Leo, Jack Howarth, Hugo Peel, Cameron Munster, Jahrome Hughes, Stefano Utoikamanu, Harry Grant, Josh King, Cooper Clark, Ativalu Lisati, Trent Loiero, Trent Toelau, Alec MacDonald, Jack Hetherington, Joe Chan, Tyran Wishart & Shawn Blore
Canberra Raiders vs St. George Illawarra Dragons
The Raiders need a win, and they need it badly. What better way to get back on track than taking on the bottom-of-the-table Dragons at home? This is a clash between the bottom two teams, and there’s still a sliver of hope that the Raiders can make the top eight, but the run needs to start now. They have lost four of their last five games, including 20-42 to the Storm last time out. The Dragons have also lost four of their last five, and went down by just two points to the Knights.
In a needed boost, it looks like both Josh Papali'i and Simi Sasagi could return for the Raiders. Meanwhile, Moses Suli is in some doubt for the Dragons after picking up a hip injury. The Dragons actually got the better of the Raiders the last time these two teams played back in Round 22 last season, 18-12. Surely the Raiders pull it together and produce a win for their home crowds against the only team that’s lower than them on the ladder?
Predicted Squads
Canberra Raiders - Kaeo Weekes, Savelio Tamale, Sebastian Kris, Matthew Timoko, Xavier Savage, Ethan Strange, Ethan Sanders, Josh Papali'i, Tom Starling, Joe Tapine, Hudson Young, Zac Hosking, Corey Horsburgh, Owen Pattie, Jayden Brailey, Morgan Smithies, Ata Mariota, Simi Sasagi & Daine Laurie
St. George Illawarra Dragons - Clint Gutherson, Setu Tu, Hayden Buchanan, Valentine Holmes, Mathew Feagai, Daniel Atkinson, Kyle Flanagan, Loko Jnr Pasifiki Tonga, Damien Cook, Toby Couchman, Dylan Egan, Hamish Stewart, Ryan Couchman, Jacob Liddle, Josh Kerr, Emre Guler, Blake Lawrie, Lyhkan King-Togia & Tyrell Sloan
Newcastle Knights vs Wests Tigers
Wrapping up Round 17 are the Knights against the Tigers at McDonald Jones Stadium. The Knights just scraped through with the win against the Dragons last time out, 22-20, and this means they’ve won four of their last five games. The hot start to the season for the Tigers is well and truly over, and now they are battling to stay consistent (and within touch of the top eight). They have gone loss-win-loss-win-loss in their last five games.
Pasami Saulo is out for multiple weeks for the Knights after fracturing his ankle in his last game. For the Tigers, Jock Madden appears to be ruled out after a head clash, but they should welcome back the much-needed Adam Doeuhi. Patrick Herbert is also out for the Tigers after dislocating his shoulder in the game against the Dolphins. While we never really know what Tigers team we’re going to get, all signs point towards a Knights victory.
Predicted Squads
Newcastle Knights - Kalyn Ponga, Dominic Young, Dane Gagai, Bradman Best, Greg Marzhew, Fletcher Sharpe, Dylan Brown, Jacob Saifiti, Phoenix Crossland, Trey Mooney, Dylan Lucas, Thomas Cant, Mat Croker, Harrison Graham, Tyson Frizell, Fletcher Hunt, Sandon Smith, Cody Hopwood & Jermaine McEwen
Wests Tigers - Jahream Bula, Heamasi Makasini, Taylan May, Starford To'a, Sunia Turuva, Jarome Luai, Adam Doueihi, Terrell May, Api Koroisau, Fonua Pole, Sione Fainu, Tony Sukkar, Alex Seyfarth, Josese Lanyon, Mavrik Geyer, Charlie Murray, Ethan Roberts, Latu Fainu & Bunty Afoa
