Manly Sea Eagles vs Sydney Roosters
Boy, oh boy, do we kick things off with a doozy in Round 4. It’s all about the return of Daly Cherry-Evans to his old stomping ground. This time, he won’t be wearing white and maroon, so how will the home crowd treat him? The Sea Eagles are coming off their bye in Round 3, and this will be their third game in a row at home. They are yet to take advantage of the home crowd, and have started the season 0-2.
The Roosters were flogged last time out by the Panthers, and have started the season 1-2. The Sea Eagles look pretty stable, squad-wise, and for the Roosters, we should see Billy Smith return. Spencer Leniu is also nearing a return, but it might be another week or two. The Roosters have won the last two games against the Sea Eagles. While the Roosters are the favourite, I think the Sea Eagles can keep this one close.
Predicted Squads
Manly Sea Eagles - Tom Trbojevic, Jason Saab, Tolu Koula, Reuben Garrick, Lehi Hopoate, Luke Brooks, Jamal Fogarty, Taniela Paseka, Jake Simpkin, Kobe Hetherington, Haumole Olakau'atu, Ben Trbojevic, Jake Trbojevic, Nathan Brown, Ethan Bullemor, Siosiua Taukeiaho & Brandon Wakeham
Sydney Roosters - James Tedesco, Daniel Tupou, Billy Smith, Robert Toia, Mark Nawaqanitawase, Daly Cherry-Evans, Sam Walker, Naufahu Whyte, Reece Robson, Lindsay Collins, Angus Crichton, Siua Wong, Egan Butcher, Connor Watson, Blake Steep, Nat Butcher & Salesi Foketi
New Zealand Warriors vs Wests Tigers
The Warriors have won all three of their games so far this season, and they are back in New Zealand for this game against the Tigers. So far, the Warriors have beaten the Roosters, Raiders and Knights. For the Tigers, they got the win to open up their 2026, but couldn’t get the job done against the Rabbitohs last time out, 16-20. The flight across the ditch is never easy, and the Tigers have only won 38% of their games at Go Media Stadium.
Adam Pompey will be back for the Warriors, along with Chanel Harris-Tavita. This is looking like a tough side for any team to beat. The Tigers saw a couple of injuries to key players in their last game, and it could really put a damper on their season. Jarome Luai is out for the next month, and there are question marks around Adam Doueihi. The Wah train continues on here with a convincing win.
Predicted Squads
New Zealand Warriors - Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad, Dallin Watene-Zelezniak, Ali Leiataua, Adam Pompey, Roger Tuivasa-Sheck, Chanel Harris-Tavita, Tanah Boyd, James Fisher-Harris, Wayde Egan, Jackson Ford, Leka Halasima, Jacob Laban, Erin Clark, Sam Healey, Mitch Barnett, Tanner Stowers-Smith & Marata Niukore
Wests Tigers - Jahream Bula, Sunia Turuva, Starford To'a, Heamasi Makasini, Luke Laulilii, Jock Madden, Adam Doueihi, Terrell May, Api Koroisu, Fonua Pole, Samuela Fainu, Kai Pearce-Paul, Alex Twal, Jeral Skleton, Sione Fainu, Royce Hunt & Alex Seyfarth
Brisbane Broncos vs Dolphins
The first Battle of Brisbane for 2026 has arrived. It will be interesting to see how Selwyn Cobbo goes up against his former club for the first time. The Broncos got a much-needed win over the Storm last time out (their first win against the Storm in Melbourne in 10 years). They will need to build on this momentum against a Dolphins team that comes into this one with back-to-back wins.
Adam Reynolds was out for the Storm clash, and he could sit this one out as well to ensure he fully recovers. For the Dolphins, we see Tom Flegler and Kurt Donoghoe return to the fold. There’s a bit of unfolding drama with the Broncos at the moment, with reports that their assistant coach Ben Te'o will resign after a heated argument with Michael Maguire. Will that drama seep onto the field in this game?
Predicted Squads
Brisbane Broncos - Reece Walsh, Josiah Karapani, Kotoni Staggs, Deine Mariner, Grant Anderson, Ezra Mam, Ben Hunt, Corey Jensen, Cory Paix, Payne Haas, Brendan Piakura, Jordan Riki, Patrick Carrigan, Xavier Willison, Ben Talty, Jack Gosiewski & Gehamat Shibasaki
Dolphins - Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow, Jamayne Isaako, Jake Averillo, Herbie Farnworth, Selwyn Cobbo, Kodi Nikorima, Isaiya Katoa, Tom Gilbert, Max Plath, Francis Molo, Connelly Lemuelu, Kulikefu Finefeuiaki, Morgan Knowles, Kurt Donoghoe, Tom Flegler, Felise Kaufusi & Oryn Keeley
Key NRL Betting Influencers - Round 4
A lot is happening this round, but here are the key factors that will most likely impact your bets:
- The Warriors are on fire at the moment. They are playing at home once again and will face a Tigers team that has been ravaged by injuries. This could be a blowout.
- Much like the Warriors and Tigers, the Bulldogs are playing well and playing at home. Now, they face up against the Knights, who have lost a couple of the star players. Another blowout is on the cards.
- This shapes up to be a close battle. The Raiders are playing at home, but lost last time out at GIO Stadium. Plus, the Sharks have a 54% win rate at this stadium.

Canterbury Bulldogs vs Newcastle Knights
The Bulldogs play host to the Knights in the first of three Saturday games this round. The Bulldogs will be happy to walk away with the win on the road last time out, beating the Raiders 14-10. They also won their first round clash against the Dragons, and come into this game 2-0, sitting third on the ladder. The Knights felt the pain of injuries to two of the biggest stars in their last game, losing to the Warriors, 12-38.
With the Bulldogs humming reasonably well, don’t expect many changes in their squad. Bronson Xerri looks set to remain in the NSW Cup. Fletcher Sharpe was a late scratching for the Knights last time out, and they desperately need him to be fit for this one. In the last two games between the Bulldogs and Knights, the Bulldogs have won both and have only let the Knights score a grand total of two points. With the injuries, expect more of the same in this one.
Predicted Squads
Canterbury Bulldogs - Connor Tracey, Jacob Kiraz, Enari Tuala, Stephen Crichton, Marcelo Montoya, Matt Burton, Lachlan Galvin, Max King, Bailey Hayward, Samuel Hughes, Viliame Kikau, Jacob Preston, Jaeman Salmon, Kurt Mann, Sitili Tupouniua, Harry Hayes & Josh Curran
Newcastle Knights - Fletcher Hunt, Dominic Young, Dane Gagai, Bradman Best, Greg Marzhew, Fletcher Sharpe, Sandon Smith, Jacob Saifiti, Phoenix Crossland, Mat Croker, Dylan Lucas, Jermaine McEwen, Tyson Frizell, Thomas Cant, Cody Hopwood, Pasami Saulo & Francis Manuleleua
Penrith Panthers vs Parramatta Eels
Two Western Sydney rivals do battle at CommBank Stadium, with the Panthers taking on the Eels. The Panthers are looking like a well-oiled machine and aren’t likely to make many, if any, changes to their team for this game. They are sitting pretty in second on the ladder with convincing wins over the Broncos, Sharks and Roosters. In three games so far this season, the Panthers have only let in 10 points.
After a poor opening game, the Eels have bounced back with back-to-back wins over the Broncos and Dragons. The Panthers look to be a much bigger challenge, though, and are the far more consistent side. J’maine Hopgood returned from suspension for the Eels last time out, only to suffer a season-ending ACL injury. Jordan Samrani is also looking at a stint on the sidelines. I expect the Panthers will pile on the points in this game.
| Bookmaker | Katherine’s Tip | Odds |
| Total Points - Over 46.5 | NZ$1.81 | |
| Panthers Total Points - Over 30.5 | NZ$1.91 | |
| Total Points - Over 46.5 | NZ$1.81 |
Predicted Squads
Penrith Panthers - Dylan Edwards, Thomas Jenkins, Paul Alamoti, Casey McLean, Brian To'o, Blaize Talagi, Nathan Cleary, Moses Leota, Mitch Kenny, Lindsay Smith, Isaiah Papali'i, Liam Martin, Isaah Yeo, Jack Cogger, Billy Phillips, Scott Sorensen & Luke Garner
Parramatta Eels - Isaiah Iongi, Bailey Simonsson, Brian Kelly, Sean Russell, Josh Addo-Carr, Jonah Pezet, Mitchell Moses, Sam Tuivaiti, Ryley Smith, Junior Paulo, Kelma Tuilagi, Kitione Kautoga, Jack Williams, Dylan Walker, Jack de Belin, Matt Dorey & Tallyn Da Silva
North Queensland Cowboys vs Melbourne Storm
To wrap things up on Saturday night, we have the Cowboys up against the Storm. The Cowboys played well against the Titans, winning 30-16 to ensure they stay away from the wooden spoon, at least for the time being. The Storm suffered a rare defeat at home last time out to the Broncos, 14-18, and it’s usually pretty rare for them to lose two games in a row, so expect a big showing from the Melbourne team.
Tom Chester will be out for this one for the Cowboys, serving a one-week ban for a high tackle. Thomas Mikaele could return as well, but it might be a last-minute decision. For the Storm, Ativalu Lisati is out for a couple of weeks. The Storm has had the Cowboys’ number recently, and it’s difficult to see the Storm losing, even with the game being played up in Townsville.
Predicted Squads
North Queensland Cowboys - Scott Drinkwater, Braidon Burns, Jaxon Purdue, Zac Laybutt, Murray Taulagi, Jake Clifford, Tom Dearden, Jason Taumalolo, Reed Mahoney, Griffin Neame, Heilum Luki, Sam McIntyre, Reuben Cotter, Coen Hess, Soni Luke, Thomas Mikaele & Matthew Lodge
Melbourne Storm - Sua Fa'alogo, Will Warbrick, Jack Howarth, Moses Leo, Nick Meaney, Cameron Munster, Jahrome Hughes, Stefano Utoikamanu, Harry Grant, Josh King, Joe Chan, Alec MacDonald, Trent Loiero, Tyran Wishart, Tui Kamikamica, Davvy Moale & Cooper Clark
Canberra Raiders vs Cronulla Sharks
This sets up to be the closest match of the round, according to the bookmakers anyway. The Raiders remain at home and welcome the Sharks to GIO Stadium. The Raiders will be looking to take advantage of their home crowd after losing at home last time out, 10-14, to the Bulldogs. They have suffered back-to-back losses after opening up the season with a win. The same goes for the Sharks, who beat the Titans, 50-10, only to lose to the Panthers and Dolphins.
Josh Papali’i is out for the Raiders after accepting a one-week ban for his high tackle. Meanwhile, both Blayke Brailey and Jesse Ramien escaped with fines and will be free to play in this game. Normally, with all other things being equal, you would give the edge to the home team, but the Sharks do have a decent enough record at GIO Stadium, winning 54% of their games. If they play as they did in Round 1, they can win this.
Predicted Squads
Canberra Raiders - Kaeo Weekes, Savielo Tamale, Matthew Timoko, Sebastian Kris, Xavier Savage, Ethan Strange, Ethan Sanders, Ata Mariota, Tom Starling, Joe Tapine, Hudson Young, Noah Martin, Corey Horsburgh, Jayden Brailey, Zac Hosking, Simi Sasagi & Morgan Smithies
Cronulla Sharks - Will Kennedy, Sione Katoa, Jesse Ramien, KL Iro, Sam Stonestreet, Braydon Trindall, Nicho Hynes, Addin Fonua-Blake, Blayke Brailey, Thomas Hazelton, Briton Nikora, Billy Burns, Jesse Colquhoun, Sifa Talakai, Toby Rudolf, Oregon Kaufusi & Teig Wilton
Gold Coast Titans vs St. George Illawarra Dragons
Whatever the opposite of “saving the best for last” is, this is it. The Titans, who are last on the ladder, take on the Dragons, who are second-last on the ladder, in the final game of Round 4. Both teams have opened up the 2026 season with three straight losses. The Titans have lost to the Sharks, Dolphins, and Cowboys, while the Dragons have lost to the Bulldogs, Storm, and Eels.
The Titans are obviously under pressure, so they might opt to make some unforced changes to their squad. For the Dragons, Ryan Couchman looks set to spend some time on the sidelines after his hip drop tackle that ended Eels’ J’maine Hopgood's season. This one looks to be a flip of the coin, but I did like the way Jayden Campbell returned last time out for the Titans, and they are playing at home. Giving the Titans the slight edge here.
Predicted Squads
Gold Coast Titans - Keano Kini, Jaylan De Groot, Jojo Fifita, Max Feagai, Phillip Sami, AJ Brimson, Jayden Campbell, Moeaki Fotuaika, Sam Verrills, Tino Fa'asuamaleaui, Klese Haas, Beau Fermor, Chris Randall, Kurtis Morrin, Tukimihia Simpkins, Josh Patston & Cooper Bai
St. George Illawarra Dragons - Clint Gutherson, Christian Tuipulotu, Moses Suli, Valentine Holmes, Setu Tu, Kyle Flanagan, Daniel Atkinson, Emre Guler, Damien Cook, Toby Couchman, Luciano Leilua, Jaydn Su'A, Hamish Stewart, Jacob Liddle, Josh Kerr, Blake Lawrie & Hame Sele
