New Zealand vs Bangladesh - Cricket Betting Tips

The best New Zealand can do here is tie the series at one game apiece after Game 2 was abandoned without a ball bowled.

News Highlights

  • Bangladesh drew first blood in this series, but after rain washed out Game 2, New Zealand can still tie the series.
  • This game will be played at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, where the first two ODIs were played.
  • Expect hot and humid weather at the ground, and there’s a 45% chance of rain as well.

Persistent rain meant we couldn’t see if New Zealand were able to keep the series alive. But our attention moves to the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka now. Two of the three ODIs were played at this ground, with New Zealand winning the first and Bangladesh winning the second.

There’s a chance of rain for this one, but we’re hoping it stays away! Before all the action for Game 3 kicks off, make sure you see who the BettingTop10 team are tipping. All our cricket betting tips can be found right here in this article.

Team Form, Key Players & Tactics

New Zealand

Not much has changed since my Game 2 preview was written, considering that game was washed out. New Zealand can’t win this series now, but they can play for a draw. For the first time in this series, we head to a different ground.

We’re at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, and two of the ODIs were played here. The Black Caps won one of those games, the first ODI, by 26 runs. But it was Bangladesh that won the other, and in a more convincing fashion.

With this inexperienced team, I’m still concerned about the middle order. That’s what limited their total after getting off to a good start in Game 1. If captain Tom Latham comes back into the playing 11, I think that improves their chances greatly.

Bangladesh

Bangladesh have been the favourites for all three games, and they are still the form team coming into this one. Including the ODIs, they have won the last three games against New Zealand, and a lot of those wins have been fairly convincing as well.

What I liked in Game 1 of this series was the well-rounded nature of the Bangladesh team; they were good with both the bat and the ball. Several of their players made their mark, so they didn’t have to rely on just one or two to get them over the line.

I expect they’ll go with a similar playing 11 for this game, and at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, it seems to be a fairly balanced pitch, with something in it for both batters and bowlers. This should favour Bangladesh in my eyes.

New Zealand vs Bangladesh Key Stats

In recent T20Is against these two teams, Bangladesh have won two of the last five games, two games have been either a no result or abandoned, and New Zealand have won one game. New Zealand have now lost their last three T20Is in a row (two against South Africa and one against Bangladesh). Bangladesh have won their last three T20Is in a row (two against Ireland and one against New Zealand).

The most vital trends that you should be aware of leading into this match:

  • The pitch tends to be balanced, supporting both batters and bowlers.
  • The average first innings total for T20Is at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium is 139.
  • More recently, the average first innings across the last five T20Is at this stadium is 165.

Our Cricket Betting Predictions

I’m once again sticking with Bangladesh. While the venue has changed since my last preview, not a lot else has changed. Bangladesh are still the in-form team, and the Black Caps are still inexperienced. I think it will take an exceptional game from New Zealand to get them over the line here.

The safe play is for Bangladesh to take the outright win. I do still think New Zealand can cause an upset, but it really depends on who they include in their playing 11. If Tom Latham comes back into the fold, he could lift up the team.

Take Bangladesh to win @ $1.55.

Final Words

It’s the final game of New Zealand’s tour of Bangladesh, and the best the Black Caps can hope for is a draw in this T20I series. They will be looking to end things on a positive note before their attention turns to Ireland for the one and only Test match.
