Bournemouth vs Man City Prediction: EPL Betting Tips & Odds

Bournemouth and Manchester City meet at the Vitality Stadium on Wednesday morning New Zealand time in a fixture that could decide the Premier League title.

City trail Arsenal by two points with two games to play, and anything less than a win here likely ends their challenge. Antoine Semenyo returns to his old stomping ground for the first time since his £64m January move. I’ll have more on that angle below, but the real intrigue for me is in the goals markets.

In this Bournemouth vs Man City preview, I’ve found a BTTS price worth backing for those keen on football tips this week.

Bournemouth

Sixteen Premier League games without defeat. Few saw that coming from Bournemouth this season. Four wins from their last five have turned a frustrating run of stalemates into a real push for European qualification, and Iraola has done all of it after losing Semenyo in January.

Eli Junior Kroupi has 12 league goals from 30 appearances. He’s 19. I don’t need to spell out just how impressive that is. Rayan scored the winner at Fulham last week, and Bournemouth’s front players have more than covered Semenyo’s departure between them.

I worry about them defensively, though. Only two home league defeats all season is a strong number, but clean sheets have been rare. Both teams scored in eight of Bournemouth’s last 10 at the Vitality.

Team News: Christie is suspended after his red card at Fulham. Cook is a doubt with a thigh problem. Soler and Akinmboni are out. Jimenez is unavailable.

Predicted Lineup: Petrovic; Smith, Hill, Senesi, Truffert; Adams, Scott; Rayan, Kroupi, Tavernier; Evanilson.

Manchester City

Semenyo’s backheel to win the FA Cup final on Saturday was special, but Guardiola didn’t allow his squad to celebrate. They went straight home to prepare for this.

City have won nine of their last 10 across all competitions. Three consecutive league clean sheets before their 3-3 draw vs Everton. Erling Haaland has 26 Premier League goals in 34 appearances this season and eight assists on top of that, scoring twice in the reverse fixture in November.

Phil Foden returned to the starting lineup against Crystal Palace midweek and looked sharp. Rayan Cherki has been one of City’s best players in the second half of the campaign. And Semenyo himself has 16 Premier League goals since joining. 

Guardiola won’t be short of attacking options here.

Rodri is a doubt though. He played 69 minutes of the FA Cup final after a groin problem but may not travel. Without him, City lose control in midfield - a bigger deal at the Vitality than it would be at the Etihad.

Team News: Rodri is doubtful with a groin problem. Gvardiol returned from a tibial fracture for the FA Cup final and is available. No other concerns.

Predicted Lineup: Donnarumma; Nunes, Guehi, Dias, Gvardiol; Bernardo, Gonzalez; Semenyo, Cherki, Foden; Haaland.

• Bournemouth are unbeaten in 16 consecutive top-flight games, the longest current streak in the division.
• Both teams scored in eight of Bournemouth’s last 10 home league games.
• Haaland has scored twice in each of his last two appearances against Bournemouth.
• Bournemouth’s only Premier League win over City was a 2-1 victory at the Vitality in November 2024.

I’m picking City, reluctantly. Bournemouth have been outstanding and I wouldn’t put it past Kroupi to give Guehi and Dias problems, but the title race adds a pressure I don’t think Iraola’s side can match. 

City need this more than any game they’ve played all season.

Semenyo coming back to face his old club is a narrative I can see going wrong for Bournemouth. He scored at Wembley two days ago and won’t be coasting.

I do think Bournemouth score, though. Their home record and the BTTS trend both point toward a game with goals at both ends, especially with Rodri potentially absent. 

A 2-1 City win wouldn’t surprise me at all. If you’re using betting promotions to bet on this one, the goals angle is where I’d focus.

Both Teams to Score @ $1.50

This is a short price, I’m aware of that. But I’d rather back a confident selection at $1.50 than stretch for value that isn’t there.

Bournemouth have been involved in BTTS results in eight of their last 10 at the Vitality, while City have conceded in four of their last five away league games. 

Rodri’s potential absence weakens City’s midfield control, and a Bournemouth side with nothing to lose at home will create chances.

I don’t need to argue why City will score. Haaland alone has four goals in two games against Bournemouth this season, and Semenyo will be desperate to remind the Vitality faithful what they lost.
