Man City vs PSG Prediction

Gianluigi Donnarumma comes up against PSG for the first time since leaving Paris.

He’ll be in goal for Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Thursday morning NZT, with an 8am kickoff, as the two-time defending champions arrive for round two of the Champions League league phase. Both sides won their openers, City 2-0 at Porto and PSG 6-1 at home to Slovan Bratislava.

I’m siding with the hosts in this Man City vs PSG preview, but not at the straight win price.

My pick pays four times your stake, so it’s worth comparing betting promotions before kickoff.

Man City vs PSG Analysis

Man City

For an hour at Anfield on 11 October, City were dreadful.

Their 0.07 first-half xG was their lowest in a Premier League first half since March 2020, according to ESPN. Then Ryan Gravenberch was sent off in the 62nd minute and the game flipped completely.

Erling Haaland tucked in a rebound three minutes later. Jeremy Doku’s strike into the top corner arrived almost straight away, and Rayan Cherki finished it off on 78 minutes for a 3-0 win.

I’m not reading much into that first hour. City were playing in front of a hostile crowd just over a fortnight after being found guilty of breaching Premier League financial rules, a verdict they’re appealing, and they still won comfortably at Liverpool.

Haaland scored twice at Porto in round one and got through 80 minutes at Anfield after a fitness scare on Norway duty. I also thought Cherki was City’s best player once the space opened up, and I’d start him again here.

Team News: Foden is available again after serving a three-match ban. O’Reilly and Semenyo are minor doubts.

Predicted Lineup: Donnarumma; Nunes, Dias, Guehi, O’Reilly; Anderson, Fernandez; Semenyo, Cherki, Doku; Haaland.

PSG

PSG went four games without a win after lifting the Super Cup.

Losing the Trophee des Champions to Lens came first. Then they drew at Rennes and Lille before a 2-1 home defeat to Monaco on 4 September.

They’ve won four on the bounce since. Ousmane Dembele had two goals and two assists against Slovan, and a 1-0 win at Brest was followed by a 2-1 victory in Marseille on 20 September.

Le Mans gave them a scare at the Parc des Princes on 10 October. Lucas Beraldo’s penalty put PSG ahead before Louis Mafouta equalised on 54 minutes, and it took Khvicha Kvaratskhelia off the bench to restore the lead. Maghnes Akliouche got the third, but Le Mans struck the crossbar along the way.

Dembele and Nuno Mendes missed that one with an eye on this trip. I’m wary of this attack with both of them fresh, and anyone looking for football betting tips on PSG should check Dembele’s anytime scorer price.

Team News: Mayulu is out.

Predicted Lineup: Safonov; Hakimi, Zabarnyi, Pacho, Mendes; Neves, Vitinha, Ruiz; Doue, Dembele, Kvaratskhelia.

Man City vs PSG Stats and Trends

  • PSG won the last meeting 4-2 in Paris in January 2025.
  • City have won all six of their Premier League games this season.
  • PSG are 11 Champions League games unbeaten.
  • Three of City’s six league games have featured goals at both ends.
  • PSG have one clean sheet from six Ligue 1 games.

Man City vs PSG Prediction

I’m backing City.

That 4-2 in Paris does give me pause. City were 2-0 up that night and fell apart in the second half, and Dembele was at the heart of the comeback.

But City have won all three Champions League home games they’ve played against PSG, and Donnarumma knows this PSG attack better than anyone at the Etihad. That’s a small edge, though I’ll take it.

My worry is the other end. I can’t see City shutting PSG out, not with Dembele back and Kvaratskhelia fresh off a goal. I don’t know how sharp Dembele will be after a week off, either.

I’m calling it 2-1 City. A draw wouldn’t shock me, and if PSG score first I’d be nervous. Over 2.5 goals at $1.45 is too short for my liking, and BTTS at $1.42 isn’t much better on its own, so I’d rather tie the goals angle to a result.

Man City vs PSG - The Ultimate Bet

Man City to Win and Both Teams to Score @ $4.00

PSG have scored in all seven of their Ligue 1 and Champions League games this season.

City haven’t been watertight at home either. Sunderland scored three at the Etihad on 20 September, and Bournemouth got one there on the opening weekend.

That lines up with my 2-1 call, and I’m happy to take $4.00 on the best legal sports betting sites in New Zealand.
