Football Multi Bet: $9.95 Tip for Thursday

Two Champions League quarter-final second legs on Thursday morning, and I’m combining three tips across both games. Arsenal and Bayern Munich hold first-leg advantages at home, and I’ve thrown a goals market into the mix for Munich. Combined odds come in just under $10 on football betting sites.

Arsenal vs Sporting CP

Thursday April 16, 7:00am NZT, Emirates Stadium

Arsenal take a 1-0 lead into this second leg after Kai Havertz struck in stoppage time in Lisbon. Sporting had won 17 straight at home before that result, so that late goal was quite the surprise.

Sporting need to score here - a draw eliminates them - and that should open up space for Arsenal on the counter. Fotis Ioannidis hasn’t played since February with a knee problem, and both Luis Guilherme and Nuno Santos are also missing for the visitors.

Martin Odegaard picked up a knock in the first leg but it’s not believed to be serious, and Eberechi Eze is back in contention after his recent setback. Arsenal have conceded just five goals in 11 Champions League games this season - the best defensive record of any side left in the competition.

I’m backing them at $1.55 on NZ betting sites as what feels like the safest leg in this multi.

Bayern Munich vs Real Madrid

Thursday April 16, 7:00am NZT, Allianz Arena

Bayern won 2-1 at the Bernabeu through Luis Diaz and Harry Kane, with Kylian Mbappe pulling one back late. They’ve been relentless since - a 5-0 thumping of St Pauli on Saturday was the latest, with Vincent Kompany resting key players with one eye on this fixture.

Real Madrid are missing Thibaut Courtois and Rodrygo through injury, while Aurelien Tchouameni is suspended. They lost 2-1 to Mallorca and drew 1-1 with Girona in their last two La Liga outings.

I’d have Bayern shorter than $1.65 given the form gulf right now. Kane has 11 Champions League goals this season and no sign of the ankle issue that troubled him earlier. My football betting tip is a Bayern victory at the Allianz Arena.

I’ll be honest though - the over 4.5 goals is where I could come unstuck. Both sides have scored in all eight of their last meetings, and the context pushes towards goals. Bayern have averaged 3.2 per Champions League game this season. Madrid have 30 in 14 themselves, and they need at least two here just to force extra time.

Courtois being absent is a factor too - Andriy Lunin hasn’t looked as sure-footed under European knockout pressure.

I’ve found $3.90 for over 4.5 on some betting promotions and it’s the price that gives us our return.
