Football Multi Bet

I’ve put together a football multi bet across three World Cup warm-up friendlies kicking off early Wednesday. All three selections come from sides with tournament preparation front of mind, and the combined odds sit at $10.76. One safe leg, two punts - and that’s where the return comes from.

Croatia vs Belgium

Wednesday June 3, 4:00am NZT, Stadion HNK Rijeka

I like Croatia here. They went unbeaten through World Cup qualifying - seven wins and a draw from eight matches, 26 scored, four conceded - and topped their UEFA group comfortably. In March they beat Colombia 2-1 in Orlando.

Igor Matanovic has scored 11 Bundesliga goals this season for Freiburg. Josko Gvardiol returned to play for Manchester City in mid-May after four months out with a tibial fracture. Both should start. Belgium have Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku available, but Rudi Garcia’s side crashed out of Qatar 2022 in the group stage and haven’t been entirely convincing since.

I’m backing home advantage and Croatia’s sharpness at $2.60 on live betting sites.

Wales vs Ghana

Wednesday June 3, 6:45am NZT, Cardiff City Stadium

Wales missed the World Cup after losing to Bosnia and Herzegovina on penalties in March. Craig Bellamy’s squad have played once since - a 1-1 draw at home to Northern Ireland. No tournament on the horizon, no urgency.

Ghana couldn’t be more different. Carlos Queiroz’s side face Panama in Toronto on June 17 and have been in camp in Cardiff preparing for exactly this kind of fixture. Antoine Semenyo and Inaki Williams will want minutes ahead of that opener. Cardiff won’t be easy - it never is - and I’m not fully confident in this leg.

But at $3.60 on betting apps, Ghana’s World Cup focus and squad depth give me enough reason to take a swing.

Morocco vs Madagascar

Wednesday June 3, 5:00am NZT, Stade Prince Moulay Abdallah, Rabat

Morocco hammered Burundi 5-0 last Tuesday. Ayoub El Kaabi and Soufiane Benjdida both scored twice. Ranked eighth in the world, they head into a World Cup group with Brazil and Scotland, and this is their last home match before flying out.

Madagascar aren’t without form - they beat Kyrgyzstan 5-2 away and drew 1-1 with Equatorial Guinea. But $1.15 tells you everything about the gap here. It won’t turn heads on its own, but on free bets across most NZ bookmakers, Morocco give this multi its foundation.
