Liverpool vs Brentford Prediction: EPL Betting Tips & Odds

Liverpool vs Brentford Prediction
Mohamed Salah’s last ever Anfield appearance and a Champions League place hanging in the balance. Liverpool vs Brentford on the final day of the Premier League season could be an absolute belter.
Liverpool go into this one needing a result to guarantee Champions League qualification, while Brentford - four points off Bournemouth in sixth - need a win and other results to fall their way.Â
I like the look of a high-scoring game, and I’ve found a goals angle above $3.00 for those tracking sports betting sites in New Zealand this week. In this Liverpool vs Brentford preview, I look at form, team news and where the value is.
Liverpool vs Brentford Analysis
Liverpool
I don’t trust this Liverpool team right now. Winless in three - the 4-2 collapse at Villa Park was ugly, the 1-1 against Chelsea before that was uninspiring. Liverpool have failed to record a clean sheet in six consecutive Premier League games. That’s not a blip.
Anfield should help. Ten wins from 18 home league games this season. But Villa stuck four past them last Friday, and the defensive structure Arne Slot loved talking about in September feels like a distant memory.
Salah coming back is the obvious boost. He returned as a substitute at Villa and should be available from the start for his Anfield farewell. I’m expecting an emotional afternoon. Salah in that mood is capable of taking a game over on his own.
Alexander Isak could return too after missing the Villa game with a minor injury - another setback in a disrupted first season at Anfield. If he’s fit enough to start, Liverpool immediately look more dangerous. Florian Wirtz also came back at Villa Park.
Team News: Isak expected to return. Salah and Wirtz available. Alisson could reclaim the gloves from Mamardashvili. Frimpong a doubt. Ekitike, Bradley and Endo out long-term.
Predicted Lineup: Alisson; Gomez, Konate, Van Dijk, Kerkez; Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Szoboszlai, Wirtz, Salah; Isak.
Brentford
Two league games without a win since the 3-0 thumping of West Ham - a 3-0 loss at Man City and a 2-2 against Crystal Palace where Dango Ouattara’s 88th-minute header rescued a point. I’m struggling to see where a win at Anfield comes from given six wins and 10 losses on the road this season.
And yet I can’t discount the motivation. A win combined with results elsewhere could give them European football for the first time in their history.
Igor Thiago has been sensational. Twenty-two league goals in his first full Premier League season. If Brentford are going to get anything at Anfield, Thiago is the reason.
Former Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher returns to Anfield for the first time since his summer move. I’m curious how that one plays out.
Team News: Carvalho and Milambo out with ACL injuries. Henry sidelined. Dasilva returned to the squad recently after a lengthy absence.
Predicted Lineup: Kelleher; Kayode, Van den Berg, Collins, Hickey; Jensen, Yarmolyuk; Ouattara, Damsgaard, Lewis-Potter; Thiago.
Liverpool vs Brentford Stats and Trends
- Liverpool have won 10 of 18 home league games this season.
- Brentford have lost 10 of 18 away Premier League fixtures in 2025/26.
- Brentford won the reverse fixture 3-2 at the Gtech Community Stadium in October.
- Over 2.5 goals has come in during three of the last five H2H meetings.
- Igor Thiago has scored 22 Premier League goals this season.
Liverpool vs Brentford Prediction
I think Liverpool get it done, but not comfortably. Anfield on the final day, Salah’s farewell, a Champions League place on the line - the atmosphere alone should drag them over the line.Â
I’ve watched enough of this Liverpool side to know they can still turn it on when it counts, even if consistency has been a problem all season.
Brentford won’t come and defend. They need a win, and Thiago up front gives them a threat that most sides in the league can’t cope with. I can see this being open and direct from the first whistle. A 2-1 or 3-1 Liverpool win feels right, with a Salah goal to give Anfield the goodbye it wants.
I wouldn’t be shocked by a Brentford equaliser at some point, though. If you’re checking the best sports betting apps in NZ for this one, the goals markets look generous.
Liverpool vs Brentford - The Ultimate Bet
Over 2.5 Goals @ $1.80
Liverpool have to win and Brentford need the points. Neither side will be cautious.
Liverpool’s defence has been leaking goals all month - four conceded at Villa, three at Old Trafford. Brentford have Thiago scoring at will and Ouattara with pace on the counter. And if Liverpool’s strongest attacking options all start together, Anfield should produce plenty of goalmouth action.
Over 2.5 has come in during three of the last five H2H meetings. At $1.80, the price isn’t massive, but the confidence level is high.
For those using betting bonuses to get involved on the final day, this one’s about as close to a banker as I’ll call all season.
