Man City vs Bournemouth Prediction: Betting Tips & Odds

Man City vs Bournemouth Prediction
Manchester City and Bournemouth kick off their 2026/27 Premier League seasons early on Monday morning New Zealand time at the Etihad.
Both clubs are beginning life under new managers, with Enzo Maresca taking charge of his first league game after a decade of Pep Guardiola, while Marco Rose replaces Andoni Iraola on the south coast.
In this Manchester City vs Bournemouth preview, I look at how both squads have changed over the summer and where the value is for those looking to do some football betting. Spoiler alert: I’ve found a goals-market combination that I reckon is worth a dabble ahead of kick off.
Manchester City vs Bournemouth Analysis
Manchester City
I can’t remember the last time City went into a season with this much upheaval.
Guardiola is gone after 10 years. Rodri has left for Barcelona. Bernardo Silva and John Stones have moved on. And the Community Shield was ugly - 3-0 to Arsenal, with Calafiori scoring early before Havertz and Odegaard piled on.
Elliot Anderson is their headline signing, a £116m move from Nottingham Forest. He started every game for England at the World Cup and will be central to Maresca’s midfield. But Rodri was the backbone of four consecutive title-winning campaigns. Anderson is a different type of player, and I’m not convinced City have the same structural control they’ve been used to.
Haaland is City’s one constant. Antoine Semenyo, who arrived from Bournemouth in January, faces his old club and will be desperate to impress. With Doku injured and Savinho possibly on his way to Spurs, Semenyo should get the nod on the right.
Team News: Doku is out with a calf injury from the Community Shield. Grealish and Nunes are also unavailable. Several World Cup participants had shortened pre-seasons.
Predicted Lineup: Donnarumma; Khusanov, Dias, Guehi, Gvardiol; Anderson, Kovacic; Semenyo, Foden, Cherki; Haaland.
Bournemouth
Rose’s pre-season told two stories.
On one hand, 21 goals across five friendlies, including a 10-1 demolition of Genoa and a 5-2 win over Augsburg away. On the other, a 2-1 loss to Mainz 05 in their final warm-up game and a worrying injury list heading into the real action.
Eli Junior Kroupi is a big absence.
He scored 13 Premier League goals in his debut season and fractured his fifth metatarsal during pre-season training. He won’t be back until late October.
You can’t just rotate around a loss like that - Evanilson will lead the line but he scored six league goals last season. I’d need to see a significant jump from him before I’d back Bournemouth to threaten consistently up front.
Antonio Silva, a £25.7m signing from Benfica, replaces Marcos Senesi at centre-back after Senesi’s free transfer to Tottenham. It’s a lot of change for an opening-day trip to the Etihad.
Team News: Kroupi is out until October with a metatarsal fracture. Christie is suspended. Adli has a calf injury. Araujo underwent thigh surgery. Adams and Brooks are fitness doubts.
Predicted Lineup: Petrovic; Smith, Hill, Silva, Truffert; Adams, Scott; Rayan, Kluivert, Tavernier; Evanilson.
Manchester City vs Bournemouth Stats and Trends
- Both teams scored in all five of the last meetings between these two clubs.
- Four of those five games produced over 2.5 goals.
- Bournemouth have never won a Premier League match at the Etihad.
- City lost two of their last three competitive fixtures, including the 3-0 Community Shield defeat.
- Bournemouth conceded in four of their five pre-season friendlies.
Manchester City vs Bournemouth Prediction
I’m going with City, though I’m less confident than the $1.45 price suggests I should be.
Losing Rodri alone would have been significant. Losing him, Bernardo Silva and Stones in a single window is a lot to absorb, and Anderson hasn’t had a full pre-season to develop combinations.
Bournemouth without Kroupi worry me less offensively, but Rose will have this team pressing high and countering at pace. Rayan and Kluivert have the speed to exploit gaps when City commit forward, and every meeting between these two clubs over the past two seasons has produced goals for both sides. I don’t see that changing here.
If you’re like me and have picked up some free bets to use on opening weekend, BTTS is where I’d start. Five from five in this fixture is a strong pattern, and I think Bournemouth will get at least one opportunity in transition that they’ll convert.
City’s quality should still be enough at home, even in a transitional phase. I’m expecting a 2-1 or 3-1.

Manchester City vs Bournemouth - The Ultimate Bet
Manchester City to Win and Both Teams to Score @ $2.20
City will be favourites at the Etihad regardless of the turbulence.
Haaland against a reshuffled Bournemouth defence, with Semenyo running at his former teammates - there’s enough attacking quality here to get the job done.
But Bournemouth won’t drop deep and absorb pressure. Rose’s coaching background is all high-press, intense football, forged in the Red Bull system at Salzburg and Leipzig. With Rayan and Kluivert providing pace on the flanks, I expect them to create chances against a City defence still gelling under a new manager.
At $2.20, this is a price I’m happy to back, particularly through these new betting sites available in New Zealand.
