Football Multi Bet: $8.78 Tip for Monday

Five Premier League games on Monday NZT and I’ve gone for three away sides in this football multi bet. 

Fulham, Newcastle and Brighton all have the form edge on their opponents, and with relegation maths and European places still up for grabs, I reckon all three get the job done. 

Combined odds come in at just under $9 – not the biggest return, but I’m comfortable with the certainty trade-off.

Monday May 18, 2:00am NZT, Molineux

I’m opening with the safest leg. Wolves are bottom on 18 points, relegated weeks ago, and have scored once in their last five matches – a single equaliser in a 1-1 with Sunderland. Before that they lost to West Ham (0-4), Leeds (0-3), Spurs (0-1), and Brighton (0-3).

Fulham haven’t exactly been setting the world on fire either – one win from five, including a 0-1 loss at home to Bournemouth last time out. But they don’t need to be spectacular against this opposition. Harry Wilson has 10 league goals this season and Raul Jimenez has nine, so they’ve got firepower spread across the front line. 

At $1.90 on football betting sites, Fulham winning is as close to a banker as you’ll find this round.

Monday May 18, 4:30am NZT, St James’ Park

West Ham are 18th on 36 points and their away form has been a problem all season – nine wins from 36 overall. Their last two results were a 0-3 loss at Brentford and a 0-1 home defeat to Arsenal, both without scoring. Jarrod Bowen has eight goals and 10 assists this season, but he’s not getting enough help.

Newcastle beat Brighton 3-1 here a fortnight ago to end a run of four straight league defeats, and Bruno Guimaraes is back from his hamstring injury. I don’t love backing them given their inconsistency – one win from five before the Brighton result – but West Ham’s struggles on the road and Eddie Howe’s need for every available point tip this one towards the home side. 

Newcastle at $2.10 on NZ betting sites is where I’m going.

Monday May 18, 2:00am NZT, Elland Road

Leeds have been difficult to beat at Elland Road and they’ve come away with results recently, including a 1-1 at Spurs and a 3-0 win over Wolves. Fourteen of their 36 league games have ended level this season, which tells you they’re stubborn if nothing else.

Brighton are seventh and chasing European football, though. 

They put three past Wolves last weekend without reply and did the same to Leeds at the AMEX back in November. Fabian Hurzeler’s squad is deeper and their motivation is obvious. 

At $2.20 through betting promotions, I think Brighton’s urgency gives them the edge over a Leeds side with little left to play for.
