Tottenham vs Getafe Prediction: Betting Tips & Odds

Tottenham vs Getafe Prediction
Tottenham and Getafe go head-to-head at Hotspur Way on Sunday morning New Zealand time.
Both sides are continuing their pre-season preparations ahead of the new campaign. De Zerbi’s Spurs have been faultless so far this summer, winning all four of their warm-up games. It’s the first meeting between these two since a pair of 2007-08 UEFA Cup group-stage ties, and the squads look a lot different now.
In this Tottenham vs Getafe preview, I’ve got a goals-market angle for those tracking football sports betting odds ahead of the new season.
Tottenham vs Getafe Analysis
Tottenham
I’ve been impressed with Spurs this pre-season.
Four wins from four, including clean sheets against MK Dons and Auckland. Then came a gutsy 2-1 over Chelsea in the Sydney Super Cup after going down to 10 men when Kevin Danso saw red. Sandro Tonali’s opener against Chelsea was worth the wait - his first goal since the club-record move from Newcastle.
De Zerbi deserves credit for what he inherited.
Coming into a squad that scraped survival by two points last season, finishing 17th after three managers in one campaign, he’s somehow got them looking organised and competitive in a matter of weeks. Richarlison’s 92nd-minute winner in Sydney felt like the sort of moment that can shift a mood for an entire pre-season.
What I don’t know yet is how the squad copes when the World Cup returnees filter back in. Eleven Spurs players were in the US and Mexico this summer, and some of those won’t have trained with De Zerbi for more than a few days. Robertson and Senesi are the sensible free-transfer additions at the back, but I think it’s going to be a while before this defence looks settled.
Team News: Simons is out long-term with an ACL injury. Odobert is also recovering from a cruciate ligament issue. Kulusevski is close to a return from a knee problem. Davies is unavailable.
Predicted Lineup: Kinsky; Spence, Dragusin, Senesi, Robertson; Fernandes, Tonali; Donley, Richarlison, Son; Solanke.
Getafe
Getafe had a strong enough 2025-26, finishing seventh in La Liga and qualifying for the Conference League. For a club with their budget, that’s a serious achievement.
Their only pre-season outing was a 4-1 defeat to Atletico Madrid at the Majadahonda Training Ground on July 29. Gutierrez pulled one back before half-time, but Ademola Lookman scored twice in the opening 35 minutes and Getafe never looked like getting back into it. I wouldn’t read too much into that result - Atletico’s squad depth is frightening, and it was always going to be tough.
Mauro Arambarri was their top scorer last season with six league goals, and Luis Milla led the assists chart with 10. Borja Mayoral adds a reliable option up front. I’d expect a rotated squad for this one, with the La Liga opener against Alaves on August 15 the real focus.
Team News: No significant injuries reported. Full squad expected to be available.
Predicted Lineup: Soria; Femenia, Djene, Abqar, Boselli; Arambarri, Milla; Uche, Terrats, Mayoral; Satriano.
Tottenham vs Getafe Stats and Trends
- Spurs have won all four pre-season games this summer.
- Getafe lost 4-1 to Atletico Madrid in their only warm-up fixture.
- Spurs finished 17th in the Premier League last season, surviving relegation by two points.
- Getafe finished seventh in La Liga and qualified for the Conference League.
- They last met in the 2007-08 UEFA Cup group stage, with Getafe winning 2-1 at White Hart Lane.
Tottenham vs Getafe Prediction
I’m going with Spurs here.
De Zerbi’s side have been excellent in pre-season, and the confidence from four consecutive wins - especially the Chelsea result - should translate into a controlled performance at Hotspur Way.
Getafe have had just the one warm-up outing, and it was a thumping. Now they’re travelling to London to face a side that looks like a completely different outfit from the one that limped to 17th last May.
I don’t see them causing too many problems, though I do think they’ll score. Bordalas’s teams have always been hard to shut out completely, and Spurs are still piecing together a new-look defence.
For those searching NZ betting sites for friendly action, I’d target the goals markets. Spurs will want to be positive in front of De Zerbi, and Getafe are unlikely to park up in a closed-doors game with nothing on the line.
Tottenham vs Getafe - The Ultimate Bet
Tottenham to Win and Over 1.5 Goals @ $2.20
Spurs have scored in every pre-season fixture and won them all. De Zerbi will want attacking intent from his players, and the extra week of training since the Sydney tour should have sharpened their combinations.
Getafe are coming off a 4-1 loss to Atletico where they struggled to cope with pace and movement. I can see Spurs controlling possession and creating chances regularly here.
At $2.20, combining a Spurs victory with over 1.5 goals feels like a solid angle on live betting sites this weekend.
