Two Round of 16 ties close out the last-16 stage on July 8 NZT, and the World Cup 2026 odds across both fixtures offer enough angles to put a multi together. Argentina face Egypt in Atlanta before Switzerland take on Colombia in Vancouver.

I’ve been through the form and injury news from the best football betting sites to put together a three-leg multi with a combined payout above $10. Worth taking advantage of the free bets available across NZ betting sites and betting apps right now.

Top Picks for World Cup Day 27 | July 8

Argentina vs Egypt

Argentina to win by 2+ goals ($2.40)

Argentina’s moneyline at $1.35 is too short for a multi, so I’ve gone to the handicap. The defending champions have scored 11 goals in four matches at this tournament. Lionel Messi has seven of them and has now scored in eight consecutive World Cup games - a record.

They beat Algeria 3-0 in the opener, then Austria 2-0, before a 3-1 win over Jordan completed a perfect group stage. They needed extra time to see off Cape Verde 3-2 in the Round of 32, but that was just a blip I rekon.

Egypt have already exceeded expectations by progressing to the last 16 for the first time in their history. But they needed 120 minutes and a penalty shootout to get past Australia. Mohamed Salah was dealing with a hamstring issue as recently as the Iran group game and had to play the full 120 against the Socceroos. I’m not confident they can cope with what Argentina will throw at them here.

✓ Long Shot: Egypt to qualify ($4.50)
✓ Extra Tip: Over 2.5 goals ($2.00)

Switzerland vs Colombia

Colombia to win ($2.25)

Colombia at plus-money feels like a steal, considering they’re unbeaten. They topped Group K with seven points - conceding just once across three group games - and beat Ghana 1-0 in the Round of 32 with Jhon Arias scoring early. Luis Diaz has been one of the most dangerous attackers at this tournament - his directness off the left has troubled every defence he’s faced.

Jhon Cordoba’s groin injury from the Ghana match is a concern up front, but Luis Suarez came on in the eighth minute after Cordoba went down and immediately set up the winner.

Switzerland have had a strong campaign, with 20-year-old Johan Manzambi impressing at his first World Cup, but they’ve exited at the Round of 16 in four of their last five tournaments. I think that pattern continues here.

✓ Long Shot: Switzerland to qualify ($2.80)
✓ Extra Tip: Both teams to score - Yes ($1.80)
