Two quarter-finals in one NZT day and I’m not complaining. The World Cup 2026 odds across football betting sites favour England against Haaland’s Norway, while Argentina are expected to dispatch Switzerland in Kansas City. I’ve been scanning the free bets available at NZ betting sites and the top betting apps to put a multi together, and the goals markets in the earlier kickoff are where I think the value is.

Top Picks for World Cup Day 31 | July 12

Norway vs England

Over 2.5 goals ($1.90)

I can’t see this being a cagey affair. Norway have scored and conceded in all five of their matches at this tournament, including a 3-2 win over Senegal in the group and the 2-1 upset of Brazil in the last 16. Erling Haaland has seven goals from four appearances and hasn’t gone a game without finding the net.

England have won three straight but they’re leaking goals in the knockout rounds. DR Congo got one past them, and they conceded twice against Mexico after Jarell Quansah’s 54th-minute red card left them with 10 men. Jordan Henderson broke his arm in the post-match celebrations and won’t play again this tournament. Reece James hasn’t trained fully and it’s unclear whether he’ll start. I’m expecting an open game with both sides contributing.

✓ Long Shot: Haaland to score 2+ goals ($5.50)
✓ Extra Tip: BTTS Yes ($1.70)

Argentina vs Switzerland

Argentina to win ($1.70)

Switzerland played 120 scoreless minutes against Colombia just days ago before winning on penalties. They did it without Johan Manzambi, their breakout player with three goals and two assists this tournament, who went down with a knee injury in training. Whether he’s fit for this is anyone’s guess. Michel Aebischer and Luca Jaquez were also absent against Colombia.

Argentina’s comeback against Egypt was one for the ages. Trailing 2-0 in the 67th minute, Cristian Romero headed one in before Lionel Messi equalised four minutes later. Enzo Fernandez won it deep in stoppage time. Messi has eight goals at this tournament and I don’t see a fatigued Switzerland side containing him here. Argentina to win, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they do it without conceding.

✓ Long Shot: Argentina to win to nil ($3.50)
✓ Extra Tip: Under 2.5 goals ($1.70)
