Three Round of 32 ties fall on July 2 NZT, and I’ve put together a multi paying $7.88 across the lot.

England open the card against DR Congo at 4am NZT. Then it’s Belgium against Senegal at 8am, before the USA take on Bosnia and Herzegovina at midday. I’ve gone with handicaps on a couple of these because the straight win prices were too short to bother with, and that’s where the better World Cup 2026 odds turn up.

Anyone checking out football betting sites for value will see two strong favourites and one real toss-up here. A few betting apps are pushing free bets for the knockout rounds, and most NZ betting sites have all three games priced up.

Top Picks for World Cup Day 21 | July 2

England vs DR Congo

England -1.5 ($1.83)

England to win looks dull at around $1.27, so I’d rather take the goal line. England topped Group L and put four past Croatia on the opening day, though they couldn’t break down Ghana and only saw off Panama 2-0.

DR Congo are here on merit after holding Portugal to a draw and beating Uzbekistan 3-1 to squeeze through as a third-placed side. Their defence has been awkward to play through, but the attack depends almost entirely on Yoane Wissa.

I think England’s depth wins out over 90 minutes against a side that has to come and chase the game. Their blank against Ghana is a worry, so the two-goal margin isn’t a lock, but it’s the bet I’d back here.

✓ Long Shot: Yoane Wissa to score anytime ($5.50)
✓ Extra Tip: Harry Kane to score anytime ($1.77)

Belgium vs Senegal

Belgium to win ($2.10)

This is the leg I’m least sure about, which is exactly why $2.10 on Belgium appeals. Belgium won Group G without getting out of second gear, drawing their first two before a 5-1 win over New Zealand.

Their defence has looked soft at times, and Senegal have the runners to punish that on the counter. Senegal scored eight goals on their way through and squeezed in as the last qualifier, so I’m not dismissing them.

But I trust Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku to find a way through a Senegal back line that has already shipped goals against France and Norway. Take the Belgians at a price I reckon is too generous.

✓ Long Shot: Senegal to win ($3.75)
✓ Extra Tip: Both teams to score ($1.95)

USA vs Bosnia and Herzegovina

USA -1.5 ($2.05)

The USA have been poor in World Cup knockout games - 1-7 all time - but at home I still trust them to get the job done by two. They won Group D off wins over Paraguay and Australia, then rested half the side in a dead-rubber 3-2 loss to Turkiye.

Christian Pulisic is back to full fitness after a calf problem, and Folarin Balogun scored twice in their group win over Paraguay. Bosnia scraped through as a third-placed side on four points, with their only win a 3-1 over an already-eliminated Qatar and a 4-1 hammering by Switzerland on the record.

Edin Dzeko, now 40, is still the man they look to up front. I’ll take the USA by two at Levi’s Stadium, with the home crowd and far more firepower in attack.

✓ Long Shot: Bosnia to win ($7.50)
✓ Extra Tip: Folarin Balogun to score anytime ($2.35)
