Selections:

Meloni – 2.40

Reconvene – 8.00

Luckytobehere – 21.00

BEST BET – Meloni

In race 2 Meloni is our best bet of the day. Having enjoyed nine months off, he has returned to action with two respectable efforts. He should stay well over this distance and he looks capable of taking another step forward. The one to beat.

THE DANGER – Reconvene

There are a few dangers and Reconvene is one of them. With two wins from his last four races, he has been in good form and will be looking to bounce back after two disappointing efforts. This should be easier than recent assignments and a return to the places should be on the cards.

VALUE BET – Luckytobehere

At a big price, Luckyotobehere could be worth a market check. A sixteen-runner maiden, she broke her maiden tag at the seventeenth time of asking with a win at Te Aroha two weeks ago. She is clearly in the form of her life and carries less weight in this contest. She can’t be discounted.

Selections:

Malachy – 4.20

Cheval De Foudre – 6.00

Wheelitin – 12.00

BEST BET – Malachy

Malachy is in flying form with three wins and a second from his last four races. He has won at this distance numeous times, and he should love the ground. He's down to the 54kg minimum here, with apprentice Tom Wigram's claim reducing that further. He's the one to beat.

THE DANGER – Cheval De Foudre

Cheval De Foudre is a danger. Although he isn’t prolific when it comes to winning, his consistency is admirable with six places from his last eight runs. This trip is his optimum, he has two wins over it and he should be right in the mix once again.

VALUE BET – Wheelitin

Wheelitin could be a horse that sneaks into reckoning. She has two wins from her last five starts and is in good form. Two of her seven wins have come here, and she has two placed efforts from four runs at this trip. Has to be in with a chance.

Selections:

Tajana – 3.90

Ploy – 7.00

Connello – 17.00

BEST BET – Tajana

With four wins from twelve runs, Tajana will be of real interest. Having won twice at this grade, she has also placed in Group 2 and Group 1 races. She is a classy operator and could well return to winning ways here.

THE DANGER – Ploy

The chances of Ploy are hard to ignore. Having run just six times, she has won three times and there could be more to come. A winner last time out at Te Repa, this is her first crack at this level of racing but she looks capable of leaving her mark.

VALUE BET – Connello

Our best value play comes from Connello. Having raced in six of these types of contests, she has three placed efforts and is capable of competing for the places. She goes well here having won and placed from her two starts and has won twice at this trip. She doesn’t have the best recent form, but if her spark returns, she could be more than good enough.
