Sunday Racing Tips - Trentham 01/03/26

The Trentham card this Sunday is headlined by the Wellington Cuddle Stakes.

Ahead of this and the first race we have run our eye through the card and picked out some of our best horse racing tips.

Summit Up – 7.00

BEST BET – The King of Jazz

Having made just two starts, there is plenty of hope that The Kjng of Jazz can win a race of this nature. Whenever Craig Grylls and Robbie Patterson unite, any horse of theirs deserves serious attention and following his second last time out at Pukekura Raceway, a big run can be expected.

THE DANGER – Summit Up

The most obvious danger could come from Summit Up. Having also had two runs, he was slightly disappointing last time out when he could only finish fourth. His debut third does offer some encouragement but a big improvement is probably needed.

VALUE BET – Dolindo

Dolindo could be the best value play here. A poor debut run was left well behind when he just failed to win at Otaki at a massive price last time out. With that run offering up plenty of encouragement, another bold bid can be expected.

Anderson Bridge – 2.10

Leica Ripa – 5.50

Hoorah Henry – 6.50

BEST BET – Anderson Bridge

Although there are plenty of dangers, Anderson Bridge in the fourth race of the day is the benchmark. Somewhat of a specialist around Trentham, he has two wins from three starts at the venue, with both of those wins coming this season. He has won his last two and will take some passing.

THE DANGER – Leica Ripa

The most interesting horse in the race is Leica Ripa. With just four starts to her name, she has plenty to find with the most of the field. However her last two races have resulted in comfortable wins and although this requires much more, she could be more than capable of leaving her mark.

VALUE BET – Hoorah Henry

Heading back down an experienced route, Hoorah Henry represents the value play. Also a winner of his last two, he also enjoys a fine record at Trentham. His form ties in nicely with Anderson Price and at almost three times the price, he makes obvious appeal.

Marotiri Molly - 6.50

Khanshe – 12.00

BEST BET – She’s A Dealer

In the Wellington Cuddle Stakes, there are high hopes that She’s A Dealer could land a first graded contest. Consecutive fourth place finishes in the Aotearoa Classic and Rich Hill Mile are decent levels of form in this company and she is the most obvious candidate for success here.

THE DANGER – Marotiri Molly

There are many decent alternatives but the one that sticks out is Marotiri Molly. Her last three races have all been in Group 2 races and two of them have yielded second place finishes. She was unlucky not to have won the Thorndon Mile and should be right in the mix here.

VALUE BET – Khanshe

Khanshe is our long shot bet of the day. With five wins from seventeen starts she operates at a good strike rate and she has already tasted success at this level when winning the Phar Lap Trophy back in January. This is tougher but she has two wins and two placed efforts when running at the track and could be hard to stop.
