He has run five times at the track and has won three times and placed on two further occasions. A poor start cost him last time out and if he can get away on terms he should be the one to beat.

THE DANGER – Spanish Lad

The danger looks like it will come from Spanish Lad. A veteran of the track, he has raced ten times here and has won five times including last time out when resuming from a break. He could be even better here and will be a major threat to all.

VALUE BET – Ballbeena

At a price it could be worth monitoring Ballbeena. A winner of two of her last three starts, she has won at this sort of level before. She doesn’t have a great record here but could well go close.

Batu – 4.80

Jack High – 6.00

BEST BET – Estilo

After finishing ninth on debut, Estilo took a massive step forward last time out at the track by just missing out and finishing second. With that run now behind her, she is by far the benchmark in terms of form and is clearly the one to beat.

THE DANGER – Batu

The main danger could come from a newcomer but Batu does have some strands of form that could make him worth chancing. His best effort to date came at the track on debut and a repeat of that could see him contend.

VALUE BET – Jack High

Of the newcomers Jack High could be the one worth siding with. Well bred, he is expected to be a good horse and a race of this nature could well be in his scope. He is worth checking in the market.

Naughty Grannie – 9.50

Novak – 11.00

BEST BET – Skymax

In the seventh race of the day, Skymax is arguably the best bet of the day but will jump off at a short price. She was a winner last time out at the course doing it cozily. Look for her to settle in the pack and then fly home late.

THE DANGER – Naughty Grannie

There are many dangers within this field but Naughty Grannie could be worth checking in the market. Representing top class connections, she dismantled the field last time out at the track and a repeat of that could see her go close. There is plenty to like.

VALUE BET – Novak

Although a double figure price, Novak can’t be dismissed. By far the most experienced in this field, it’s fair to say that he has reached his ceiling but is still capable on his day. A third place effort last time out Pukekura last time offers some promise and this is slightly easier.
