Our best bet of the day comes in the first race where we are backing Early One’s to get off the mark. In a weak race, he has placed on three consecutive starts, and that form is by the strongest here. This won’t take a lot to win, and we think that he can get off the mark at the seventh time of asking.

THE DANGER – Stone Street

The danger could be Stone Street. A nine-race maiden, he hadn’t shown any form until his last start at Wanganui three weeks ago where he ran on to finish second. He is by no means a sure-fire winner, but the penny might have dropped, and he could back that up here.

VALUE BET – Mailbu

Big price runners do appeal here and the one to potentially back is Malibu. Whilst no win after 25 wins is massively concerning, he has placed on five occasions and two of those have come in his last three starts. Experience could count in a race of this nature and he can’t be discounted.

BEST BET – Wanganella

In the fifth race of the day, Wanganella could be the play. She arrives unexposed and looks to be progressive. A debut fourth, was then bettered by a solid third at Taupo. She was only just denied that day and should go a few spots better here.

THE DANGER – Carter John

Carter John could be the danger to our pick. An eight-race maiden, he has placed four times and finished second last time out at Wanganui. That run was solid, and he has the ability to mix it up with Wanganella.

VALUE BET – Kit Zakat

When it comes to value Kit Zakat makes some appeal. Although she will be near the bottom of the market, she has only made two starts and left her debut well behind when finishing third last time out. She is unexposed and looks to have the ability of competing for the places.

Pacific Princess – 5.50

First Edition – 11.00

BEST BET – Rosina

In the seventh race of the card, Rosina could start the race as the favourite. Having won twice, she almost made that three victories when just missing out at Matamata. She has placed on her last two starts and brings a good level of consistency – she looks the one to beat.

THE DANGER – Pacific Princess

Pacific Princess will be vying for favoritism and could well land this contest. Her last two runs have come in a higher grade, and she returns to a level where she finished second on her last start. If she can leave that last run behind, she will be a massive danger to all.

VALUE BET – First Edition

Our long shot of the day is First Edition. He is experienced and lurking on a dangerous mark. At his best he can be more of a match for the majority in the field, but he will need to leave his previous runs behind if he is to be a player here.
