West Tigers vs New Zealand Warriors
After a great start to the season, the Tigers have been struggling, and for a long time as well. They are now down in 12th spot on the ladder, and have lost their last three games in a row, including to the Dragons last time out, 10-24. The Warriors haven’t exactly been lighting the world on fire as of late, either, winning just two of their last five games, but all three of their recent losses have been by just two points.
In yet another major injury blow for the Tigers, captain Api Koroisau is out for three to four weeks with a pectoral injury. Jarome Luai will return, though, but he runs hot or cold. Expect both James Fisher-Harris and Leka Halasima to return for the Warriors, but Dallin Watene-Zelezniak is out. These two clubs have already played once this season, and it was the Tigers that got the better of the Warriors 32-14 in Round 4.
Predicted Squads
West Tigers - Jahream Bula, Sunia Turuva, Heamasi Makasini, Starford To'a, Jerel Skelton, Jarome Luai, Adam Doueihi, Terrell May, Josese Lanyon, Bunty Afoa, Samuela Fainu, Sione Fainu, Alex Twal, Latu Fainu, Fonua Pole, Alex Seyfarth, Tony Sukkar, Faalentino Tavana & Charlie Murray
New Zealand Warriors - Taine Tuaupiki, Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad, Ali Leiataua, Adam Pompey, Alofiana Khan-Pereira, Chanel Harris-Tavita, Te Maire Martin, James Fisher-Harris, Wayde Egan, Tanner Stowers-Smith, Leka Halasima, Jacob Laban, Erin Clark, Sam Healey, Eddie Ieremia-Toeava, Demitric Vaimauga, Marata Niukore, Luke Metcalf & Makaia Tafua
Dolphins vs Cronulla Sharks
This is one of two top-eight clashes this round when the Sharks hit the road and travel to Redcliffe to take on the Dolphins. The Dolphins suffered their first loss in eight games last time out, going down to the Knights, 12-13. With the ladder so congested from second down, that loss has dropped the Dolphins to fifth spot, just one spot ahead of the Sharks. Both the Dolphins and Sharks are on 24 points, so this game is effectively a four-point swing.
The Sharks are on a roll at the moment, and are certainly in the mix for a top-four spot. They’ve won four of their last five games, and last time out, it was Nicho Hynes who was particularly impressive. A lot of stars could be missing for the Dolphins, as we don’t usually see many of them back up after Origin. The same may be the case for the Sharks, with the likes of Blayke Brailey, Briton Nikora and Addin Fanua-Blake all on the extended reserves.
Predicted Squads
Dolphins - Trai Fuller, Jamayne Isaako, Jake Averillo, Herbie Farnworth, Tevita Naufahu, Kodi Nikorima, Brad Schneider, Felise Kaufusi, Jeremy Marshall-King, Francis Molo, Connelly Lemuelu, Kulikefu Finefeuiaki, Morgan Knowles, Kurt Donoghoe, Ray Stone, Tom Gilbert, Sebastian Su'a, Brian Pouniu & John Fineanganofo
Cronulla Sharks - Will Kennedy, Sione Katoa, Jesse Ramien, KL Iro, Ronaldo Mulitalo, Braydon Trindall, Nicho Hynes, Thomas Hazelton, Jayden Berrell, Jesse Colquhoun, Billy Burns, Teig Wilton, Cam McInnes, Hohepa Puru, Siosifa Talakai, Oregon Kaufusi, Tuku Hau Tapuha, Mawene Hiroti & Sam Stonestreet
Canterbury Bulldogs vs Canberra Raiders
The middle Saturday game sees the Bulldogs play host to the Raiders. Both teams are outside the top eight right now, and if they want to creep into Finals contention, their run needs to start now. It looks like the run has already begun for the Bulldogs, who have strung together three wins in a row, and four of their last five. They have recent wins over the Titans, Sea Eagles, and Eels. The Raiders, who are in 13th spot, did get the win over the Dragons last time out.
Captain Stephen Crichton has been named for the Bulldogs, but he’ll need to get through Origin unscathed, which may be difficult with his shoulder. For the Raiders, look for Corey Horsburgh and Ethan Strange to back up from Origin, and Daine Laurie is back from suspension. Plus, we should also see Noah Martin and Josh Papalii return from injury. With more pieces of the puzzle back, can the Raiders put up a fight?
Predicted Squads
Canterbury Bulldogs - Connor Tracey, Jacob Kiraz, Matt Burton, Enari Tuala, Jethro Rinakama, Stephen Crichton, Lachlan Galvin, Max King, Bailey Hayward, Leo Thompson, Josh Curran, Jaeman Salmon, Harry Hayes, Kurt Mann, Alekolasimi Jones, Jack Underhill, Lipoi Hopoi, Bronson Xerri & Sean O'Sullivan
Canberra Raiders - Kaeo Weekes, Sebastian Kris, Simi Sasagi, Matthew Timoko, Xavier Savage, Ethan Strange, Ethan Sanders, Corey Horsburgh, Owen Pattie, Joe Tapine, Hudson Young, Noah Martin, Zac Hosking, Tom Starling, Ata Mariota, Josh Papalii, Daine Laurie, Chevy Stewart & Morgan Smithies
Key NRL Betting Influencers - Round 19
A lot is happening this round, but here are the key factors that will most likely impact your bets:
- Some stars have returned for the Tigers, but now with Api Koroisau out, it changes things. All of the recent losses for the Warriors have been by just two points, so I expect them to look for a statement win.
- This could be the game of the round with the Dolphins and Sharks sitting next to each other on the ladder. I’m sniffing an upset here, with a number of the Dolphins Origin stars set to miss this one.
- The Knights are a much-improved team and are now winning games that they probably shouldn’t have. If the likes of Kalyn Ponga and Bradman Best back up from Origin, I think the road team can snag yet another win.

Sydney Roosters vs Parramatta Eels
The third-placed Roosters will be looking for another win to cement themselves in a congested top-four, and in Round 19, they take on the Eels, who are currently sitting in 14th spot. The Roosters have won three of their last four games, including their last two over the Broncos and Sharks. We never really know what we’re going to get with the Eels, but they did perform well last time out to take down the Sea Eagles 23-14.
How the Roosters will likely perform this round will be heavily dependent on how many of their Origin stars will back up. They are one of the most impacted teams, and it’s unlikely we will see them all return for this game. Nat Butcher is also out for this game, but Daniel Tupou does return from a calf injury. For the Eels, we could see Mitchell Moses return for this game, depending on how he pulls up after Origin.
Predicted Squads
Sydney Roosters - James Tedesco, Daniel Tupou, Billy Smith, Robert Toia, Mark Nawaqanitawase, Daly Cherry-Evans, Hugo Savala, Naufahu Whyte, Connor Watson, Spencer Leniu, Salesi Foketi, Siua Wong, Victor Radley, Benaiah Ioelu, Taylor Losalu, Egan Butcher, De La Salle Va'a, Rex Bassingthwaighte & Tommy Talau
Parramatta Eels - Isaiah Iongi, Brian Kelly, Jordan Samrani, Araz Nanva, Josh Addo-Carr, Ronald Volkman, Mitchell Moses, Sam Tuivaiti, Tallyn Da Silva, Jack Williams, Kelma Tuilagi, Kitione Kautoga, Jack De Belin, Dylan Walker, Toni Mataele, Teancum Brown, Harrison Edwards, Joash Papalii & Charlie Guymer
South Sydney Rabbitohs vs Newcastle Knights
The second and final top-eight clash of Round 19! We see the eighth-placed Rabbitohs welcome the fourth-placed Knights to Accor Stadium to kick off Sunday's NRL action. The Rabbitohs had two solid wins recently, taking down the Eels, 32-12, and then the Broncos, 48-6. However, they were no match for the Panthers last time out, going down 14-36. Meanwhile, the Knights have been on a roll. They’re a team that’s now getting the win, even when it’s not pretty.
They have won their last three games in a row, which includes narrow wins over the Dragons, Tigers, and Dolphins. Rabbitohs captain, Cameron Murray, will be looking to back up for this clash, while Cody Walker is suspended for this game. Look for both Kalyn Ponga and Bradman Best to back up from Origin for the Knights as well. The Rabbitohs and Knights played each other this season in Round 9, and the Knights won 42-38.
Predicted Squads
South Sydney Rabbitohs - Matt Dufty, Dayne Jennings, Tallis Duncan, Jack Wighton, Campbell Graham, Jayden Sullivan, Ashton Ward, Tevita Tatola, Brandon Smith, Keaon Koloamatangi, David Fifita, Euan Aitken, Cameron Murray, Lachlan Hubner, Jamie Humphreys, John Radel, Liam Le Blanc, Jye Gray & Latrell Siegwalt
Newcastle Knights - Kalyn Ponga, Dominic Young, Dane Gagai, Bradman Best, Greg Marzhew, Fletcher Sharpe, Dylan Brown, Cody Hopwood, Phoenix Crossland, Trey Mooney, Dylan Lucas, Jermaine McEwen, Mat Croker, Sandon Smith, Tyson Frizell, Lachlan Crouch, Thomas Cant, Harrison Graham & Fletcher Hunt
Manly Sea Eagles vs North Queensland Cowboys
This shapes up to be another interesting game, as both teams are teetering in and around the top eight. The Sea Eagles are currently in seventh, and the Cowboys currently sit in ninth. We didn’t see the Sea Eagles play at their best last time out, and they have gone L-W-L-W-L in their last five games. Meanwhile, the Cowboys upset an undermanned Panthers side last time out, 26-12, putting an end to their three-game losing streak.
Barring an issue, expect Haumole Olakau'atu and Tolo Koula to return from Origin for the Sea Eagles. The same can be said for Jeremiah Nanai and Rueben Cotter for the Cowboys. Plus, Tom Dearden has been named on the extended reserves; the co-captain hasn’t played since Round 10. In Round 7, we saw the Sea Eagles get the win over the Cowboys 28-6. I have to give the slight edge to the home side for this one.
| Bookmaker | Katherine’s Tip | Odds |
| Sea Eagles to win | NZ$1.52 | |
| Sea Eagles to win | NZ$1.50 | |
| Sea Eagles to win | NZ$1.52 |
Predicted Squads
Manly Sea Eagles - Tom Trbojevic, Jason Saab, Tolu Koula, Reuben Garrick, Lehi Hopoate, Joey Walsh, Jamal Fogarty, Taniela Paseka, Jake Simpkin, Kobe Hetherington, Haumole Olakau'atu, Ben Trbojevic, Jake Trbojevic, Corey Waddell, Nathan Brown, Ethan Bullemore, Simione Laiafi, Josh Feledy & Aaron Schoupp
North Queensland Cowboys - Scott Drinkwater, Braidon Burns, Zac Laybutt, Tom Chester, Murray Tualagi, Jaxon Purdue, Jake Clifford, Tom Mikaele, Reed Mahoney, Jason Taumalolo, Heilum Luki, Jeremiah Nanai, Rueben Cotter, Soni Luke, Griffin Neame, Matthew Lodge, Coen Hess, Sam McIntyre & John Bateman
Melbourne Storm vs Gold Coast Titans
The final game of the round sees the Titans head down to Melbourne to face off against the Storm. The Storm were riding a three-game winning streak, but had their behinds handed to them courtesy of the Sea Eagles last time out, 4-30. The Titans do have recent wins over the Panthers and Broncos, but lost 12-30 to the Bulldogs last time out. The Storm have a hold on the overall head-to-head record, winning 22 of the 29 total games played between these two clubs.
Both Jahrome Hughes and Nick Meaney should return from their calf injuries this round, and in terms of Origin, look for Harry Grant and Cameron Munster to back up for the Storm. Tino Fa'asuamaleaui and Jojo Fifita should back up from Origin for the Titans as well. There’s no way around it, the Storm should be winning this one, and if they don’t, it’ll really damage their chances of making the top eight.
Predicted Squads
Melbourne Storm - Sua Fa’alogo, Will Warbrick, Jack Howarth, Nick Meaney, Manaia Waitere, Cameron Munster, Jahrome Hughes, Stefano Utoikamanu, Harry Grant, Josh King, Cooper Clark, Alec MacDonald, Trent Loiero, Tyran Wishart, Joe Chan, Jack Hetherington, Josiah Pahulu, Oryn Keeley & Trent Toelau
Gold Coast Titans - Keano Kini, Dean Ieremia, Jojo Fifita, AJ Brimson, Phillip Sami, Jayden Campbell, Zane Harrison, Moeaki Fotuaika, Oliver Pascoe, Tino Fa'asuamaleaui, Arama Hau, Beau Fermor, Chris Randall, Kurtis Morrin, Josh Patston, Klese Haas, Copper Bai, Sam Verrills & Jaylan De Groot
