Man United vs Aston Villa Prediction

Man United are favourites to beat Aston Villa in the Premier League at Old Trafford on Monday morning NZT, despite being 17th and haven’t won a league game since August.

Villa arrive unbeaten in five league matches, but they were also beaten 3-0 by Barcelona in the Champions League on Tuesday. United had a very different European night, coming from 2-0 down to beat Roma 3-2.

I’ve gone against the bookies on the result in this Man United vs Aston Villa preview. My best bet pays a little over $2 and gives me a safety net if it finishes level.

I’d put it near the top of my football betting tips this round, 5:30am kickoff and all.

Man United vs Aston Villa Analysis

Man United

Man United have conceded in all nine of their league games this season.

I’d be more forgiving if the goals were coming at the other end. They’ve failed to score in their last two, losing 3-0 at home to Bournemouth on 25 October and 2-0 at Chelsea six days later. Seven points is also their lowest return after nine games in the Premier League era.

Tuesday’s win over Roma doesn’t fix much of that for me. They were 2-0 down inside 20 minutes and looked finished at half-time, before Bruno Fernandes scored a retaken penalty and Matheus Cunha struck twice in the last 10 minutes. It ended a nine-game winless run in all competitions.

Cunha is the player I trust most in this side right now. He usually starts off the left with licence to drift inside, and Villa’s stand-in right-back is going to see a lot of him.

Team News: Martinez is suspended. Sesko, Shaw and Ugarte are out, while Baleba, Rashford and Dorgu are doubts.

Predicted Lineup: Lammens; Yoro, Maguire, Heaven, Dalot; Tielemans, Mainoo; Diallo, Fernandes, Cunha; Mbeumo

Aston Villa

Nicolas Jackson has scored eight goals since joining from Chelsea.

He scored both in the 2-1 win over Man City on 24 October, then opened the scoring against Fulham a week later before a Zion Suzuki own goal cost Villa two points. They’ve scored in six league games in a row now.

Their week hasn’t been great. A rotated side lost 3-0 at Bournemouth in the Carabao Cup on 28 October, and Barcelona beat them by the same score in midweek. I wonder how fresh they’ll be after the trip back from Catalonia.

Villa are anywhere from $2.90 to $3.20 to win depending on where you look, so it’s worth comparing a few of the best new betting sites before you get on.

Team News: Cash is suspended. Onana and Ruggeri are out, and Wan-Bissaka is a doubt.

Predicted Lineup: Suzuki; Lindelof, Mings, Torres, Maatsen; Kamara, Gomes; McGinn, Manzambi, Buendia; Jackson

Man United vs Aston Villa Prediction

Villa are the better team right now, and I’m happy to oppose Man United at $2.20.

Their record against Villa at Old Trafford is the obvious worry, and I’ll admit it gave me pause. United fans will also point to the Roma comeback as proof the mood has turned. I’m not convinced. One good half against Roma doesn’t change how open they’ve looked all season, and I don’t trust them to cope with a striker in Jackson’s form for 90 minutes.

I don’t know how many changes Unai Emery has planned after Barcelona, and that’s the main reason I’m not backing Villa outright. A much-changed Villa side at Old Trafford would be a lot less appealing than the one that beat City.

On goals, both teams to score at $1.50 looks right to me, but it’s too short to bother with. I’ve got this finishing 2-1 to Villa, with Man United getting one against a patched-up Villa back four.

Man United vs Aston Villa - The Ultimate Bet

Aston Villa Draw No Bet @ $2.15

Draw No Bet gives me Villa’s win at a shorter price, with my stake back if it finishes level.

I like that cover here. Man United have drawn four of their nine league games, and a scrappy 1-1 wouldn’t surprise me at all.

Villa have lost one of their last seven league games, and Jackson has scored in each of their last two. Man United haven’t scored twice in a league game since the 2-2 draw at Everton on 6 September.

At $2.15, it’s the bet I’d use with any betting promotions on this weekend.
