Football expert tips were largely in favour of a positive result for Villarreal against Tottenham Hotspur, but the Yellow Submarine could not bring their La Liga finesse to the Champions League opener in London. A Luiz Junior own-goal was the difference between the two sides.

Villarreal, however, will draw plenty of inspiration from their solid league form. Only Barcelona and Real Madrid can better their return of 16 points in seven matches.

In Europe, Villarreal have lost only once in their last nine home games. That said, most of those matches were Europa League assignments.

Team News: Villarreal is short-staffed at the back with Willy Kambwala and Juan Foyth ruled out with injuries and Pau Navarro away on Spain U-20 duty. Attackers Gerard Moreno and Ayoze Perez are also expected to miss out.

Juventus

Juventus have been quite exciting to watch this season - anybody who saw their match against Borussia Dortmund in Turin would acknowledge that. The Bianconeri seemed destined for a home defeat against Borussia Dortmund, but a pair of late goals helped them salvage a four-all draw.

Juve have played out some topsy-turvy this season, but till now, luck has favoured them. A trip to Villarreal is always tricky, but Tudor’s men will feel confident that they can grind out a good result once again.
