Saturday Racing Tips - Riccarton Park 07/11/26

The best of the Saturday racing in New Zealand comes from Riccarton where fifteen horses have been declared for the Barneswood Farm 54th New Zealand Guineas.

In what is a competitive card ahead of the first race we have run our eye through the card and picked out some of our best horse racing tips. As well as our exclusive tips we have highlighted three races which look to be the most competitive of the day. Whether you want to back a short priced favourite, or a horse at longer odds, read on as we have every angle covered.

BEST BET – Platinum Attack

Our best bet of the day comes in race six where we think Platinum Attack will be the one to beat. Having had 21 weeks off and returning with a middling effort, he left that form well behind when landing the Sweyness Stakes three weeks ago. A return to this distance holds no fears and he sets the standard despite a wide draw.

THE DANGER – Charmrose

The big danger is Charmrose. In sparkling form, she has won three of her last four races and has six wins and six seconds from 18 starts. This drop down to 1000m is an unknown but she is hard to ignore.

VALUE BET – Azeezle

Despite the top two in the market looking rock solid, Azeelze is an intriguing contender. In decent form, he returned to action after an eight week layoff with a second at Trentham. He faded in the closing stages but should be sharper here. He came second in this race last year and should give another good showing.

BEST BET – Asturia

In the headline race of the day it is Asturia who is likely the horse to beat. Hugely exciting, she has made just three starts, winning two. Having bagged the Grade 2 Soliloquy Stakes, a first Group 1 success looks likely. She has a great turn of foot and if the gaps appear should have too much class despite this quality field.

THE DANGER – Fiamma

Despite the short price of Asturia, Fiamma can’t be ignored. She finished third in the Soliloquy Stakes behind Fiamma and despite her having a task of trying to overturn that form, she is a classy operator in her own right and this step up in distance could unlock more. She is an interesting contender.

VALUE BET – Sweetest Thing

Sweetest Thing could represent some real value at a price. SHe has already placed in this grade, and she returned from a break with an impressive Listed victory at Riccarton. Despite a wide draw, she goes well at this track and should give her backers a real run for their money.

BEST BET – Moving Melody

Moving Melody heads into the Canterbury Breeders' Stakes in excellent form, having won at Riccarton before finishing a narrow second behind the much-fancied Charmrose (running in the Pegasus Stakes earlier in the card) at Ashburton last time out. She should appreciate the drop-in class here although her record over 1400m does some raise some questions, so you may be tempted to look elsewhere.

THE DANGER – Bona Sforza

Bona Sforza could well be the danger here. She can call upon the excellent Craig Grylls who takes the ride and she has a formidable record here with two wins and a placed effort coming from her four starts. Her last run can be ignored as it was her first run in six months, she should be sharper and a return to a track she clearly loves should be viewed as a big positve.

VALUE BET – Aladins Jem

Our best value play of the day comes from Aladins Jem. She will be looking to bounce back after a disappointing return at Ashburton, where she finished well down the field. However she has previously won over 1400m at Riccarton and has finished fifth in Group 3 company over 1600m. With proven ability at the track and distance, she could leave that last effort well behind.
