A bit of a chance is taken on High Country in the second race of the day. A 24 race veteran, it was arguably the best performance of his career when he won at Ellerslie a few weeks ago and he arrives in great form. This represents a small step down in class and another big run can be expected.

THE DANGER – Just Call Me Jonny

The undoubted danger is Just Call Me Jonny. Another winner last time out, he came off a big run at Te Repa and there are high hopes that he will be able to back that up here. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see him in the winners circle once again.

VALUE BET – Ruach

The value of the race must be Ruach. The most experienced runner in the field, his last two runs have seen him finish second and first. He has a 40% strike rate when it comes to placing and everything is suggesting that another big run is on the cards.

BEST BET – Qali Al Farrasha

Qali Al Farrasha is our best bet in the race of the day, the Ultimate Mazda Japan Trophy. In a race that is expected to be between Qali Al Farrasha and Sterling Express we have sided with Qali Al Farrasha as he is proven at the distance and can overturn the form with Sterling Express from the Maori Classic a few weeks ago.

THE DANGER – Sterling Express

Sterling Express is the most obvious danger. He finished ahead of Qali Al Farrasha in the Maori Classic and has great form in the book when a runner up in the Group 1 BCD Group Sprint. That is the best form in the book and if he can produce that effort here, he will be hard to peg back.

VALUE BET – Hezashocker

Hezashocker is our value shot and he is a massive price. Having spent over half of his career in graded company has has Group 1 place form and has won in this grade. Those runs were a while ago and his recent form is patchy, however if he can string it all together he could be a match for most in this field.

BEST BET – Dream Of The Moon

The fourth race of the day is arguably the most competitive but Dream Of The Moon will be a popular selection. She has two second place efforts in each of her last two starts, and this small step down in class could allow her to go one place better here.

THE DANGER – Romily

Romily looks to be a solid alternative, and she will have many followers in the market. Her last two starts have been disappointing but this drop down in class could see her run her best race for a while.

VALUE BET – Imperial Express

Imperial Express is our long shot of the day, and she brings in winning form following a good win at Matamata two weeks ago. She likes to come from off the pace, so expect her to rattle home late. A wide draw is a negative, but she could compete for a place here.
