Mirra Andreeva is officially a French Open champion after she made light work of surprise packet Maja Chwalinska in the women’s final on Saturday. On Sunday, one of Flavio Cobolli and Alexander Zverev will join her in winning their first major; take a look at our best bets for the match below.
Men’s French Open – Alexander Zverev vs Flavio Cobolli: Over 37.5 total games | $1.83 with Zoccer
Both players will be unusually fresh heading into this one, given they’ve had to advance through six rounds to get here. Zverev has dropped just two sets en route to this final and likewise Cobolli, who has also had a few days offer after his compatriot Matteo Arnaldi was incredibly forced to withdraw before a ball had even been hit in their semi-final. Those fresh legs mean that both players will have plenty to give and will not be easy to beat on any given point. With each of them being capable servers, it will also be hard to break serve and individual sets will likely be quite long, and if we head to four sets or more like I expect this match should easily clear the 37.5 game total set by betting sites.
Men’s French Open – Alexander Zverev vs Flavio Cobolli: Both players to win a set: Yes | $1.60 with Betista
The betting apps have Zverev installed as a comfortable favourite in this one so Cobolli not winning a set appears to be the major threat to this bet. But the Italian has been excellent throughout the course of this tournament, and will not make life easy for his German opponent. Cobolli has been dominant throughout the French Open and while Zverev has too, there is a huge monkey hanging off the back of the world number two who remains without a major at this point in his career. Nerves could play a huge role here, and it’s hard to imagine either player winning in straight sets.
Men’s French Open – Alexander Zverev vs Flavio Cobolli: Cobolli to win | $4.35 with BetandPlay
Finally, to the match result itself. As mentioned, Zverev has been installed as the comfortable favourite and for good reason. He’s the world number two, has been there or thereabouts for years and for the first time in his career, faces an opponent against whom he is substantially more highly fancied in a Grand Slam final. But Cobolli is not the easybeat that these odds suggest he is. The Italian is a crafty player who has excelled on clay, and is more than capable of taking it to Zverev, particularly if the weight of the moment gets to the German. At over $4, Cobolli is great value to cause an upset.
