Roland Garros Expert Tips and Best Bets | May 25
The French Open enters its second day on Monday, with a huge slate of games scheduled at Roland Garros. From former French Open finalists to up-and-coming clay court specialists, take a look at our best bets for the day below.
Women’s French Open – Camila Osorio vs Ekaterina Alexandrova: Osorio to win | $1.63 with BetandPlay
On face value this might look very short for Osorio to knock off the 14th ranked woman in the world, but there is good reason for the odds. Osorio excels on clay as she has demonstrated over the past few weeks, making the semis and quarters at the last two events she’s played and boasting a 5-2 record in that time. Alexandrova, in contrast, typically struggles on this surface, and coming into the French Open has won just a solitary match at her four clay court tournaments this season. On a different surface this might be a different story, but Osorio has a great opportunity to snare a big early round scalp here.
Men’s French Open – Hubert Hurkacz vs Jaume Munar: Hurkacz to win | $1.70 with Betista
At his best, Hurkacz has been a top ten player in the world, and his current ranking of 99 does not go close to signifying what he is capable of. After an interrupted past 12 months, he has recaptured some form this clay court season, beating two top 45 players at Monte Carlo before making his way through to a final in Italy a couple of weeks ago. Jaume Munar is no slouch, but he’s had an indifferent clay season to date, beating more lowly ranked players and struggling against superior opposition. Despite their respective rankings, Hurkacz is exactly that and should be able to work his way through to Round 2 at decent odds with French Open betting sites.
Men’s French Open – Stefanos Tsitsipas vs Alexandre Muller: Tsitsipas to win in straight sets | $2.00 with Zoccer
This won’t be a popular result with the locals if it comes through, but unfortunately for the crowd there’s a good chance that it does. Tsitsipas is not exactly at the peak of his powers but he remains a dangerous player, particularly on clay, and has had some excellent results of late, including a win over world number 11 Alexander Bublik. He loves the French Open, having made at least the fourth round six consecutive times prior to a second round exit last year. Muller, in contrast, has won in the main draw here just once in five appearances. The crowd will be behind the Frenchman, but at even money on the betting apps Tsitsipas appears good value to win in straight sets.
