The US Open continues on Thursday with a big slate of games, the winners of which will earn their way into the final 32 of the final major of the year. A number of big names will be taking to the court including men’s number one seed Alexander Zverev, while we’ll focus on a man a couple of spots below him in Felix Auger-Aliassime, as well as two-time reigning champ Naomi Osaka, in our best bets of the day. Felix Auger-Aliassime vs Karen Khachanov: Auger-Aliassime to win | $1.33 with Betista

A relatively short-priced favourite kicks us off on Thursday, but even at around $1.33 with most betting sites this looks like a pretty safe bet. Felix Auger-Aliassime is the third seed at this event in the absence of world number one Jannik Sinner, and for good reason. He made the semi-final here last year and has made quarter-finals in his last two Grand Slam appearances, and while early exits have prevented his ascent to the top-five throughout the early stages of his career, he appears to be gradually putting those disappointments behind him having now made the final eight in three of his last four Grand Slams. Khachanov is no easybeat and certainly won’t go down without a fight, but he has made a habit of winning his way through the early rounds and then being unable to continue once he begins meeting the top seeds, with five third round exits and a second round exit in his last seven Grand Slams. Auger-Aliassime won’t be able to just cruise through this one, but it would be a big surprise to see him lose it.

Naomi Osaka vs Katerina Siniakova: Osaka -1.5 sets | $1.71 with BetandPlay

If Katerina Siniakova is anything at Grand Slams, it’s consistent. The 30-year-old Czech has made plenty of second rounds in her time, but for some time that’s as far as she’s gone – in fact, in her last 20 Grand Slam appearances she has made it to the second round 11 times, but has never gone past that stage. And up against Naomi Osaka, that’s unlikely to change at this tournament. Osaka is, of course, a two-time US Open winner, and while her last victory here came in 2020, she still made the semi-final last year in a tournament that kickstarted a rise back up the rankings. Since then she’s made a third round, fourth round and then quarter-final at the other three Grand Slams, and now at number 14 in the world looks ready to make another deep run at this US Open. She should be comfortably too good for Siniakova in this one, and looks like decent odds to win it in straight sets.

Francisco Cerundolo vs Jan-Lennard Struff: Cerundolo to win | $1.56 with Zoccer

Jan-Lennard Struff’s first round against Camilo Ugo was a momentous one for the German, marking his first Grand Slam win since the Australian Open way back in 2022. Prior to that he’d had a few deep runs at majors, but at 36 years old his best is behind him and since then this is just his third appearance at a Grand Slam, with the other two ending in the first round. Cerundolo, meanwhile, has never made it past the fourth round of a major, but he’s got a third round and fourth round appearance at the French and Australian Opens respectively this year and at 28, is far closer to his prime than his opponent in this one. Struff plays an aggressive serve-and-volley style, but that plays into the hands of the top-spin heavy, athletic Cerundolo, whose playing style makes him very able to neutralise big servers like Struff. Cerundolo should really be winning this comfortably, so at better than $1.50 odds with the betting apps he looks like good value.
