We’re now entering the second week of the US Open, and with the stakes continuing to grow we’re being treated to a number of high-quality matchups between some very good players. Monday will be no excepetion. For our best bets of the day, we turn our focus to the dangerous Iga Swiatek as she searches for a seventh Grand Slam title, while elsewhere, talented young local Learner Tien takes on a more seasoned opponent in Karen Khachanov in an intriguing clash. Iga Swiatek vs Qinweng Zheng: Swiatek to win in straight sets | $1.58 with Betista

Swiatek may have dropped a little down the world ranking in recent times, but she remains one of the best in the world and on her day is arguably as good as anyone. Following a disappointing third round exit at Wimbledon earlier in the year, she’s been showing some of that world-best form, picking up a tournament win in Canada before making the semi-finals at the Cincinnatti Open a couple of weeks ago. She’s brought that form with her to Flushing Meadows, where she has picked up three consecutive straight sets wins so far, and she looks well placed to continue that run in the Round of 16. Qinweng Zheng has enjoyed a couple of runs to the quarterfinals in New York in her short career so far, but prior to this tournament had only made it past the first round in one of her last four Grand Slam appearances. She’s scratched her way through to the fourth round here with some gutsy performances, but has required three sets in every match and only just scraped over the line in a gruelling third round clash with Madison Keys on Friday. Against a far more fresh six-time Grand Slam winner in Iga Swiatek coming into some good form, this looks likely to be over relatively swiftly.

Alexander Blockx vs Francisco Cerundolo: Cerundolo to win | $2.40 with Zoccer

This is an interesting matchup between two very similarly ranked players, and while it could easily go either way, the value is clearly in the underdog, who has been listed as a relatively comfortable underdog by betting sites. One reason for that is perhaps the more gruelling run that Cerundolo has endured to get to this point in the tournament, with his last two matches going to five sets, but there is no denying just how impressive he was in knocking off the 9th seed in Tyler Fritz – and in front of a home crowd no less – in the third round. Blockx has also been super impressive, with his third round win coming against 5th seed Flavio Cobolli in four sets, but this is the first time the 21-year-old German has ever been past the second round of a Grand Slam. He is showcasing his talent at this event and has a bright future ahead of him, but Cerundolo is a very capable opponent and one who looks ready to advance through to his first ever quarterfinal in a Grand Slam. This one could certainly go either way with both players coming off fantastic wins, but $2.40 for Cerundolo to win is overs and he is the value pick here.

Learner Tien v Karen Khachanov: Tien to win | $1.58 with BetandPlay

Karen Khachanov has been excellent so far at this tournament, with a brilliant second round win against world number 4 Felix Auger-Aliassime being bookended by a pair of comfortable straight set wins to earn him a spot in the Round of 16. But Learner Tien is continuing to show himself to be one of the best young players in the world. After a career-best quarterfinal appearance at this year’s Australian Open, the young American has continued to impress at his home open, following back-to-back straight sets wins with a grinding five-setter against 17th seed Jakub Mensik, against whom he fought back from a set down to win 6-3 1-6 6-7 6-3 6-4. The 20-year-old will be a top ten player in a matter of time and has a great opportunity to make a deep run in front of his home crowd here. Khachanov has had a really good tournament so far, but he is essentially a known quantity – he’s been grinding away on the tour for years, and while he’s put in a couple of deep runs at Grand Slams, will likely find the going a bit tough against a player with the capability of Learner Tien. Expect the local to make his way into the quarterfinals with another win at Flushing Meadows here, and even at around $1.60 with the betting apps he looks like decent value.
