Brighton vs Leeds United Prediction

Brighton and Leeds United meet at the Amex on Saturday afternoon UK time - Sunday morning NZT - in a fixture where both sides will fancy their chances after positive starts.

Brighton have scored 11 goals across three competitive games. They thumped Aston Villa 4-0 on the opening weekend and dispatched Tromso by the same scoreline to qualify for the Conference League. A wild 4-3 defeat at Chelsea followed.

In this Brighton vs Leeds United preview, I’ve dug into both clubs’ early-season form and found a goals-market angle at a decent price for those scouring football tips this week.

Brighton vs Leeds United Analysis

Brighton

Eleven goals in three games. I can’t remember Brighton opening a season like this.

The Villa result was comprehensive - four goals inside 31 minutes, an xG of 3.70 to 0.31, and a red card for Joao Gomes turning a rout into a training exercise. The Tromso second leg was similar. Three first-half goals sealed Conference League qualification without fuss.

Chelsea was the reality check. Brighton were 3-0 down by the 32nd minute.

Yalcouye’s first Premier League goal and a Joao Pedro own goal brought them within one, and Gross headed home late for 4-3, but that first-half collapse told me plenty.

Maxim De Cuyper has been outstanding. Four goal contributions across three matches from left-back. Gross continues to dictate the tempo at 35.

Their casualty list is the concern for me. Hinshelwood scored twice against Villa and is now out with a training injury. Mitoma, Minteh, Evan Ferguson and Stefanos Tzimas are all sidelined too, and Hurzeler’s attacking depth is stretched.

I’m still tipping Brighton at home despite all that. Eight goals scored, none conceded from two home fixtures this season.

Team News: Hinshelwood, Mitoma, Minteh, Ferguson, Tzimas, Orozco and Ayari are out. Rutter faces a fitness test.

Predicted Lineup: Verbruggen; Kadioglu, Vuskovic, Dunk, De Cuyper; Wieffer, Gross; Gomez, Yalcouye, Osman; Costinha.

Leeds United

I rate what Daniel Farke has done here. Four points from a trip to the City Ground and a home date with Brentford is a decent haul for a side that was near the bottom 12 months ago.

The Forest win was a smash-and-grab. Anton Stach’s 88th-minute free kick was their only moment of quality in a game where Forest created the better chances. The Brentford draw required Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s 79th-minute tap-in from Lukas Nmecha’s low cross, with Brentford outshooting them 22 to 12.

Calvert-Lewin is the one I’m watching. He scored the stoppage-time winner when Leeds beat Brighton 1-0 at Elland Road in May - their first ever Premier League victory over the Seagulls.

Leeds are tight at the back. One goal conceded in two league games. But two goals scored is not enough going forward, and just two shots on target against Brentford tells its own story. I’m not convinced they have the firepower to live with Brighton at the Amex.

Team News: Rodon is a major doubt with a hamstring injury. Gruev has suffered a setback with his knee. Gnonto and Gudmundsson are cleared to return.

Predicted Lineup: Trafford; Elvedi, Bijol, Muharemovic; Bogle, Ampadu, Stach, Justin; Aaronson, Okafor; Calvert-Lewin.

Brighton vs Leeds United Stats and Trends

  • Brighton have scored eight goals in two home competitive fixtures this season.
  • Leeds are winless in four Premier League visits to the Amex, losing three and drawing one.
  • Both teams scored in three of the last five Premier League meetings.
  • Over 2.5 goals has occurred in all three of Brighton’s competitive fixtures this season.
  • Leeds managed just two shots on target in the Brentford draw.

Brighton vs Leeds United Prediction

I’m tipping Brighton. Their home form is too potent right now, and even with injuries piling up in attack, De Cuyper and Gross give them enough creativity to cause Leeds trouble.

Leeds won’t roll over, for me. Calvert-Lewin fancies this fixture after that May winner and Farke will have them well organised. I can see Leeds getting a goal.

But Brighton at the Amex have been ruthless. A 2-1 Brighton win feels about right.

If you’re tracking these markets through NZ betting sites, I’d focus on the goals rather than the outright result.

Brighton vs Leeds United - The Ultimate Bet

Brighton Win and Over 2.5 Goals @ $3.00

Brighton need to score at least twice for this to come in, and based on their output so far - 11 goals in three competitive games - I’m comfortable backing that.

Calvert-Lewin won’t be passive at the Amex. Over 2.5 goals has cleared in all three of Brighton’s competitive fixtures this season, and Leeds have scored in both of their league outings.

At $3.00, it’s a price I’m happy to back on sites offering free bets to new customers in New Zealand.
