The best racing in New Zealand this Saturday comes from Ellerslie, where the headline race of the day is the Group 1 Proisir Plate.

Ahead of the first race we have run our eye through the card and picked out some of our best horse racing tips. The first graded race of the day comes during the seventh race of the card. She’s No Saint will be popular in the betting. A winner of three straight, including at this grade, she sets a good benchmark. Market confidence will be telling but she should run another competitive race.

THE DANGER – Dream Roca

Dream Roca is likely to be a big danger to all in the field. Making the trip over from Australia, she has raced in some big races of late, but hasn’t quite been able to leave her mark. This is easier so she has to be fancied, but she needs to come on from her last few starts.

VALUE BET – Miss Janet

Miss Janet could offer up some value if the top two don’t appeal. The winner of the Skycity Star Way Stakes a repeat of that here could see her run well. That was her only start at the track and there could be more to come.

BEST BET – With A Vengeance

With A Vengeance is an interesting contender in the fourth race of the day. Having made just two starts so far in his career, he resumes after a ten month break and is being eased back into his racing. This return is far easier than recent assignments and if fit enough he should be too good for this field.

THE DANGER – Belle Rebel

It’s a similar story for Belle Rebel. Resuming after a four month break, this race is a gentle reintroduction. She has made just three starts in her career, but if she can repeat her second from the Skycity Stay Way Stakes, that would see her bang in the mix.

VALUE BET – Ocean Rules

The value could lie with Ocean Rules. A winner of one race, she has made five starts and returns after a four month layoff. She takes a drop down in trip and connections will be curious to see what impact that has. She is still relatively unexposed and might find this distance to her liking.

BEST BET – Well Written

In the feature race of the card, many will be expecting Well Written to add to her impressive list of successes. Yet to taste defeat, she is by the far the most rock solid in this field. She has already won a Grade 1 contest and connections will hope that a five month layoff won’t harm her chances of winning another.

THE DANGER – First Five

With value to be found elsewhere, First Five could be a decent alternative angle. A winner of two Group 1 races, his win in the BCD Group Sprint could bode well here. A no show in his return, connections will hope he is fitter here and returns back to his top level.

VALUE BET – Platinum Attack

With some decent horses boasting a huge price, Platinum Attack could be worth a second glance in the market. Yet to make a dent at this level, this time could be different. He has warmed up for this assignment with two consecutive victories. Whilst those wins have come in much calmer waters, he is fit and in good form. A scrap for the places could be within his remit here.
