Quick Analysis:

Tom Kitten looks difficult to hold out in the Group 2 Craven Plate today at Randwick. He’s had three weeks between runs, so he should be well rested for this one. Last time out he finished third in the Epsom Handicap, and this one looks slightly easier, and the step up to 1,800m is ideal. The gelding is good enough to get the better of Lindermann, as long as he doesn’t give him too much of a head start.

Quick Analysis:

For the Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes, I’m siding with Global Goal, who will only have 54.5kg on her back. The filly is in excellent form, taking out the Group 1 Flight Stakes last time out, also at Randwick. Dylan Gibbons is back in the saddle, and the pair have an excellent relationship. The step up to 2,000m is a slight query, but drawing barrier three certainly helps.

Quick Analysis:

Now that the days of Winx in the Cox Plate are over, we are seeing much more open fields, as is the case for the 2026 edition of the great race. Virtually every runner in this one is in with a genuine chance, but I have my sights set on Warwoven. With just 49.5kg on his back, the colt will be flying. The 3YO is also in supreme form coming into this one, currently riding a three-race winning streak, with wins in one Group 2 and two Group 1s!

Stats and Insights

  • Smooth Chino has placed in two metropolitan starts this campaign and chased well to narrowly miss at Flemington last start on a Heavy track. He can pop up there at decent odds in Race 5 at Flemington.
  • Pinhole is chasing a hat-trick after consecutive wins at Caulfield (at Group 2 level) and Rosehill. He can complete the hat-trick of wins here in Race 7 at Flemington.
  • Lazzura also arrives after a last-start win at Rosehill and has the speed to overcome an unfavourable draw. She can overcome the wide gate and challenge for victory in Race 8 at Randwick.
