Quick Analysis:

Kicking off today early in Orange, and I like the look of the favourite, Macaroon. The mare broke her maiden on the second time of asking at Orange last time out. The step up to 1,400m shouldn’t be of any concern, and we see jockey Amber Riddell back in the saddle once again. This doesn’t seem like a significant step up from the maiden last time out.

I think I’ve found a little bit of value with Nugget Smart at Muswellbrook today. After back-to-back second placings by less than 0.5L, he finally broke through for a win this prep last time out at Tamworth. Throughout his career, he also has two placings at this track. Gabrielle Johnston sticks, bringing a 2kg weight relief with her as well. They are good enough to overcome the wide draw.

Quick Analysis:

I’m wrapping up the day in Echuca where Beau Strada looks like another presenting a smidge of value. We haven’t seen the mare since June, but had a recent trial which has caught my eye. Bailey Kinninmont saddles up and brings a 2kg weight relief as well. They do draw wide, so they’ll need some luck with the breaks, but if they’re there, she’s good enough to capitalise.

  • Mickio has recorded two placings from seven starts this prep and gets the winkers back on for this one. He can make the most of the gear change in Race 5 at Echuca.
  • Naval Officer has recorded two placings from three starts this prep and narrowly missed at Orange last start. He can go one better at each-way odds in Race 6 at Orange.
  • Ode So Much placed at Muswellbrook first-up and also finished top three in his only previous second-up run. He can improve with that first-up run under his belt in Race 7 at Muswellbrook.
