There have already been plenty of scratchings for this one, so we only have seven runners lining up, and I’m sticking with the favourite. The 3YO is two-from-two so far in his career, and he is certainly capable of completing the hat-trick early in the day. His win last time out was in a BM64, which is the same level he lines up for again here. Zac Lloyd sticks as well.

Heading to Geelong now, and Prince Pienza presents some good value around the $5.00 mark at the time of writing. There are only five runners in this one now, and according to the bookies, every runner has a chance. The gelding kicked off his prep last time out with a second placing at Ballarat. He was wide for most of that one, but finished with a wet sail to end up just 1.5L off the leader. Draws the rails this time and Luke Currie sticks.

Quick Analysis:

Staying in Geelong for my final best bet of the day, and Power And The Beat is another that has a smidge of value about him. He is already a winner here at Geelong, which was back in May. His last run was in late May at Caulfield, and he has had a recent tickover trial since then. I’m not exactly a fan of the top weight, but with Jamie Mott in the saddle, I think that offsets the weight.

  • Flying Bat has two wins from 10 starts this campaign, but faded to finish on the winners’ heels at Gold Coast last start. He can return to winning form in Race 3 at the Gold Coast.
  • Lady Shotgun has two placings from four runs this preparation and returns to non-metro class. She can make an impact at big odds in Race 7 at the Gold Coast.
  • Galway Shawl has won four times at Bunbury and returns to non-metro racing for this assignment. She’ll be difficult to beat in Race 7 at Bunbury.
