Quick Analysis:

In the Group 2 Golden Pendant, I’m sticking with the favourite, Lazzura. It’s a pretty small field with just seven runners competing, and the 5YO is the clear top-rated runner. She’s coming into this one second-up after running third in the Group 2 Sheraco Stakes as the favourite. The rise up to 1,400m looks ideal, and she has a second-up record of 5:3-0-1. JMac sticks, which is another tick.

Quick Analysis:

For the Group 1 Golden Rose Stakes, I’ve got my eye on Guest House. The Golden Slipper winner kicked off his campaign last time out with a win in the Group 3 San Domenico Stakes, breaking the track record in the process! He has the class to get the job done here, but I don’t think he’ll have it as easy as he did last time out. Zac Lloyd retains the ride, and the pair might need a smidge of luck from the draw.

Quick Analysis:

Staying at Rosehill once again for my final best bet of the day with Skyhook in the Group 2 Shannon Stakes. At $1.65, there isn’t really any value in the 4YO, but the way he responded in the Theo Marks Stakes last time out makes me want to stick with him. He was the favourite in that one, and lines up as the favourite once again today. I don’t think the rise to 1,500m will be any concern, and barrier two is a great draw.

Stats and Insights

  • Tres Magnifique just missed as favourite at Sandown Hillside first-up and draws to get a favourable run. She can atone for punters this time out in Race 4 at Mornington.
  • Col Burn won first-up this preparation and comes from a strong camp. He can continue his winning form in Race 6 at the Gold Coast.
  • Peleus resumes from a 19-week spell and has a winning trial under his belt since his last race. He can make a strong return in Race 8 at Kembla Grange.
