Quick Analysis:

There are a couple of live chances in this one, but I do like the look of Bruce I Am, especially from barrier two. He comes into this one second-up after finishing second here at Warwick Farm a couple of weeks ago. Chad Schofield retains the ride, and the pair get in light at the weights as well. There’s a lot to like, and the $3.40 that’s on offer is decent enough as well.

For the Group 3 Geelong Cup, I’ve got my eye on Litzdeel. Last time out, the mare finished second in The Bart Cummings by 1.25L. This looks like a slightly easier affair on paper, so the $5.50 we’re currently getting is decent enough value. She draws the rails, only has 54kg on her back, and Jamie Melham steps into the saddle, so there’s a lot in the positive column.

Wrapping things up in Belmont today with Barron Bill. We haven’t seen the gelding since May when he won at this track/ trip, but he’s had a couple of trials to get him ready for this one. In his short career so far, he has only finished first or second. He has to lug around the top weight and does draw wide as well, but he has the class to overcome that.

  • Abender comes from a stable worth respecting and shapes as a genuine threat in this field. He can challenge for the win in Race 6 at Eagle Farm.
  • Duke Of Camden gets a favourable draw and has placed in every previous start when racing as favourite. He’ll prove hard to beat in Race 7 at Eagle Farm.
  • Frontpoint led throughout for a dominant win at Strathalbyn last start and looks capable of building on that performance. He can continue his winning form in Race 7 at Strathalbyn.
