There’s plenty of value to be found in this one today at Ballarat, and I do like the look of Cushioned. The mare comes into this one third-up and should be peaking in terms of fitness. She was a bit unlucky in her runs so far, getting held up in traffic, but from barrier three this time out, hopefully that doesn’t happen. Sticking at the mile is a good call, and she’s good enough to give this a red-hot crack.

Heading over to Scone now, and The Autumn Wind looks primed to break his maiden on the first time of asking. He’s got five trials under his belt, including one a couple of weeks ago that was particularly impressive. He gets a kind draw, and Mikayla Weir, who has been on board for the last three trials, saddles up for this one. Race day experience does count for something, but The Autumn Wind does look particularly strong.

Wrapping up today at Cranbourne with Headbanger in Race 6. Funnily enough, she jumps from barrier three as well! She’s a last-start winner after taking out a BM70 at Pakenham Synthetic with Blake Shinn in the saddle. He saddles up once again, and the 4YO will only have 55.5kg on her back compared to the 59kg she had last time. As long as the track doesn’t get into the Heavy range, she has every chance.
